A NBC News szerint az ügy 2022-ben indult, amikor egy Amazon szállító alkalmazottja értesítette a rendőrséget, hogy több kutyát látott láncokon Vincent Lemark Barrell házának udvarán Dallasban.
Amikor a hatóságok a helyszínre értek, több kutyát találtak, többségük pitbull volt.
Az ügyészek azt állítják, hogy a területen 107 kutya volt, amelyeken kegyetlen bánásmód jeleit fedezték fel. Barrell láncokon tartotta a kutyák egy részét, egy részüket pedig egy alagsorban.

Embertelen körülmények között találtak rá a kutyákra egy házkutatáson New Jersey-ben. Az állatokat sivár karámokban és ketrecekben tartották, kültéri kennelekben, nehéz láncokra verve – ismertette Az Én Kutyám az Egyesült Államok Humán Társaságának sajtóközleményét.
A mentési akcióban az állatorvosok is részt vettek, akik már a helyszínen megvizsgálták az ebeket, és megkezdték az ellátásukat. A szervezet szerint a körülmények és a kutyák állapota alapján ezeket az állatokat kifejezetten viadalra szaporították.
A kutyákon kezeletlen sebek vagy már behegedt sérülések voltak.
Mint írták, a viadalos kutyák esetében jellemzőek a szúrt, vágott és harapott sebek, továbbá a zúzódások és a csonttörések. Ha nem ezekbe, akkor valamilyen fertőzésbe, a nagy vérveszteségbe vagy a harc miatti kimerültségbe, illetve sokkba halnak bele. Nem ritka a kiszáradás miatti kimúlás sem. A sérülteken kívül lesoványodott példányok, valamint vemhes és szoptatós nőstények is voltak a helyszínen.
„Megdöbbentő, hogy a kutyaviadalokkal járó szenvedés mértéke mennyire ellentétes azzal, hogy ezek a kutyák mennyire kedvesek és szeretetre éhesek” – mondta Janette Reever, a szervezet állatbűnözési nyomozati programjának vezetője a közleményben. Az állatokat végül egy biztonságos helyre szállították, ahol folytatják kezelésüket.

Cegléden fogtak el két tenyésztőt éppen akkor, amikor hazafelé tartottak sérült staffordshire terrier kutyájukkal. Időben sikerült megmenteni 50 kutyát, egy azonban sérülései miatt az állatorvosnál elpusztult.

Forrás: Police.hu A rendőrség azt írja, hogy két domaházi férfit sikerült elfogniuk Cegléden, amikor hazafelé tartottak a Nagykőrös melletti kutyaviadalról. Az autóban megtalálták a kutyájukat is, amelynek tele volt a teste friss sérülésekkel.
Két másik nagykőrösi férfit is elfogtak, akiknek szintén közük volt a rendszeresen szervezett állatviadalokhoz. Az egyik egy helybéli tanyán próbált meg elrejteni két nagyon súlyosan sérült staffordshire terrier kutyát.

Forrás: Police.hu Később megtalálták a kutyák kiképzésére használt helyszínt is, ahol feszítőfákat, futópadokat és mérlegeket találtak a nyomozók. Emellett civil szervezetek segítségével összesen 51, viadal céljára tenyésztett kutyát is lefoglaltak. Az egyik állat a viadalon szerzett súlyos sérülései miatt a sürgős állatorvosi beavatkozás ellenére elpusztult.
A gyanúsítottak még szabadlábon védekeznek.
