Évek óta tartó növekedés után 2022-ben csökkent a lőfegyverrel elkövetett emberölések aránya az Egyesült Államokban a Betegségellenőrzési és Megelőzési Központja által közzétett adatok szerint. A CDC szerint ez az első alkalom, hogy a lőfegyverekkel elkövetett gyilkosságok országos aránya csökkent azóta, hogy 2019 és 2020 között meredeken emelkedett az ilyen jellegű támadások száma – írta a CNN.
2019 és 2020 között a lőfegyverrel elkövetett gyilkosságok általános aránya mintegy 35 százalékkal nőtt, a 2019-es országos 100 ezer emberre jutó 4,4 halálesetről 2020-ban 5,8-ra.
Ez az arány az előző 20 évhez viszonyítva a legmagasabb volt, de ismét növekedett 2021 óta 6,3 halálozás jut 100 ezer emberre számítva. Az idén eddig több mint 1300 gyermeket és tinédzsert öltek meg fegyverrel.
A CDC adatai szerint a faji egyenlőtlenségek a korábbi évekhez képest szinten maradnak minden faji és etnikai csoportban.
Kismértékű csökkenés ellenére továbbra is az afroamerikaiak körében tapasztalható a legmagasabb a lőfegyverrel elkövetett gyilkosságok aránya,
2022-ben az amerikai indiánok és az alaszkai bennszülöttek lőfegyverrel elkövetett emberölési aránya nőtt,
a spanyolajkúak körében 2022-ben az arány kiegyenlített volt, de magasabb maradt, mint 2019-ben.
a nem spanyol ajkú fehérek és az ázsiai vagy csendes-óceáni szigetek lakosságánál alacsonyabb, szintén nőtt 2019-ről 2021-re, amit 2022-ben csökkenés követett.
Jelentésükben a CDC kutatói a lőfegyverekkel összefüggő emberölési halálesetek magasabb arányát számos a gazdasági, valamint a társadalmi és egészségügyi méltánytalanságoknak tuljadonítják, amelyeket mind rontott a Covid–19 világjárvány.
A jelentés szerint lehet ezen változtatni.
Ezek magukban foglalják a gazdaság és a lakhatás biztonságát előmozdító politikákat és programokat, valamint a lőfegyverek biztonságos tárolására, javítására irányuló kezdeményezéseket az illetéktelen hozzáférés vagy használat megelőzése érdekében – áll a jelentésben.
Tavaly Joe Biden elnök amerikai aláírta a fegyvertartás korlátozásáról szóló törvényt, amely a legjelentősebb új szövetségi jogszabályozás a fegyveres erőszak kezelésére az 1994-es, 10 éves támadófegyver-tilalom óta.
Bár a csomag nem tilt be semmilyen fegyvert, és messze elmarad attól, amit Biden és pártja szorgalmazott, 750 millió dollárt tartalmaz az államok válságintervenciós programjainak megvalósítására és működtetésére. A pénzt fel lehet használni krízisbeavatkozó programokra.
2023-ban eddig legkevesebb százkilencvennyolc ember veszítette életét ilyen incidensekben.

Újabb lőfegyverrel elkövetett gyilkosság történt a szerbiai Újvidéken. Szerdán még a késő esti órákban is rendőrautókkal és páncélkocsival tartották lezárva azt a területet, ahol alig egy héttel a tragikus iskolai lövöldözést és a mladenovaci tömeggyilkosságot követően újabb vérontás történt – számolt be az M1 Híradója.
Sajtóbeszámolók szerint egy 34 éves férfi 26 éves volt barátnőjét lőtte le, majd önmagával is végzett. A nő a helyszínen életét vesztette, nem sokkal később pedig a férfi is meghalt. Nem hivatalos információk szerint az elkövetőt távoltartásra kötelezték a nővel szemben.
A fiatalember pisztollyal lépett be a szépségszalonba, ahol a nő dolgozott, majd négy lövést adott le volt barátnőjére. Az M1 Híradó információi szerint a férfi egy fegyverkereskedésben dolgozott, a pisztolyt, amellyel a nő és a saját életét is kioltotta, feltehetően onnan lopta el.
Már háromezer illegálisan tartott fegyvert, lőszert és kézigránátot adtak le az emberek Szerbiában.
Hétfőn indult az egy hónapos akció, ez idő alatt büntetés nélkül bárki leadhatja az illegálisan otthon tartott fegyverét. A szigorításokat a múlt heti tömeglövöldözések után rendelték el.
Aleksandar Vucic szerb elnök közben azt is bejelentette, hogy május 26-án tömeggyűlést tartanak Belgrádban, amelynek a társadalmi béke helyreállítása a célja.
A szerb köztársasági elnök elmondta, hogy több mint egymillió lőszert gyűjtenek be, emellett a fegyvertartási törvényeket is szigorítják.
