A pozsonyi melegbárnál történt merénylet elkövetője eredetileg Eduard Heger szlovák kormányfőt akarta meggyilkolni – közölte Stefan Hamran szlovák rendőrfőnök kedd este a TV Joj helyi televízió műsorában. Elmondása szerint a 19 éves fegyveres elkövető október 12-én többször is megközelítette a miniszterelnök magánlakását. Mivel a politikus nem volt otthon, ezért a férfi a városközpontban található melegbárhoz ment, amely már szintén hosszabb ideje lehetséges célpontjai között szerepelt.

A támadó a múlt szerdán agyonlőtt egy 26 és egy 23 éves férfit a Teplaren nevű szórakozóhely előtt, és súlyosan megsebesített egy 28 éves nőt, majd elmenekült. A rendőrség csütörtökön holtan találta; feltételezhetően öngyilkos lett.
A támadó a gyilkosságok előtt közzétette az interneten, hogy mire készül. A Twitteren és egy másik csatornán gyűlölködő üzeneteket tett közzé szexuális kisebbségekkel kapcsolatban, illetve közölt egy homofób és neonáci hangvételű „kiáltványszerűséget” is, amelyben az LMBTI-közösség tagjaival és zsidókkal szembeni erőszakra buzdított – írta akkor a Sme.sk hírportál.
