 A szakértők kiemelik: a nitrátok az élelmiszerekben komoly egészségügyi kockázatot jelenthetnek, különösen a gyermekek esetében. Mérgezést, allergiás reakciókat, sőt, súlyos szövődményeket is okozhatnak.
 A hatóság arra figyelmeztet, hogy аogyasszunk inkább idényjellegű zöldségeket és gyümölcsöket, és kerüljük a szezon előtt megjelenő terményeket – különösen gyermekek számára nem ajánlott ezek fogyasztása.

 Egy tétel mérgező mandarin jutott el Ukrajnába és Görögországba. A görög szolgálatok megállapították, hogy a citrusfélék dimetoát növényvédő szert tartalmaznak, amely a termékben a megengedett mennyiség 33-szorosát haladja meg. Emiatt a görögök nem engedték, hogy a kapott mandarint üzleteikbe és szupermarketjeikbe szállítsák. Egyelőre nem tudni, hova kerültek a veszélyes citrusfélék Ukrajnában. A termék bármely kiskereskedelmi üzletben és régióban megtalálható lehet.
