Kisebb aszteroida semmisült meg Észak-Franciaország egén a hajnali órákban – írja a BBC.
A nagyjából 1 méteres meteoroid hétfőn, hajnali 3 óra körül robbant fel a La Manche-csatorna felett. A jelenséget Dél-Angliában és Franciaország területének jelentős részén látni lehetett.
Ez volt a hetedik alkalom, hogy egy aszteroida becsapódását előre megjósolták. Az Európai Űrügynökség szerint az eredmény a globális aszteroidaészlelés gyors fejlődésének jele.
A Nemzetközi Meteorszervezet szerint a tárgy körülbelül 4 kilométerre a francia partoktól lépett be a légkörbe, látványa tűzgömb hatást keltett.
Az utolsó aszteroidát, amelyet előre jeleztek, tavaly novemberben észlelték a kanadai Ontario felett.

Egy kisebb meteorit hullott szét a horvátországi Fiume (Rijeka) felett – adta hírül a horvát meteoritfigyelő hálózat (HMM) szerdán.
Az eset augusztus 14-re virradóra történt, de a HMM csak most számolt be róla. A horvát és a nemzetközi sajtóban több képet is közzétettek a meteoritról és a villanásról.
Több kamera is felvette a tűzgömböt, ahogy hajnali 4 óra után pár perccel 92,7 kilométer magasan megjelenik, majd másodpercenként 13 kilométeres sebességgel süvít át a Föld légkörén, nyolc másodperccel később pedig, 23,2 kilométer magasan nagy villanással széthullik.
Dorian Bozicevic, a HMM titkára szerint a tűzgömb a legnagyobb villanáskor éppen Fiume fölött volt, és úgy ragyogott, mint a telihold. A környező országok meteoritfigyelő kamerái is felvették a jelenséget, Szlovéniában és Olaszországban, de Prágában, 530 kilométerrel messzebb is észlelték – tette hozzá.
Damir Segon, a meteoritfigyelő hálózat koordinátora elmondta: a számítások szerint egy körülbelül 150 grammos meteoritdarab valahol délkeletre Fiumétől, a hegyekben zuhanhatott le, járhatatlan és veszélyes területen, ezért nem indulnak a keresésére. Hozzátette: idén ez volt a második meteorithullás, amelyet észleltek.

Világűrből származó kőzetdarab csapódott be nemrég Norvégiában. A meteorit 0,5-2 kilogramm közötti lehetett, és több mint 50 ezer kilométeres sebességgel csapódott a Földnek – közölte hétfőn a Norsar szeizmológiai kutatóintézet.
A meteorit a január 5-re virradó éjszaka hullott a Földre egy Loten melletti mérőállomás közelében, Oslótól 120 kilométerre északra. Sokan a környéken erős robajt hallottak és éles fényt láttak felvillanni.
A becsapódást egy olyan területtől nem messze észlelték, ahol néhány nappal korábban komoly földcsuszamlás történt, ezért sokan attól tartottak, hogy újabb hegyoldal omlott le.
A norvég meteoritfigyelő hálózat valószínűtlennek tartja, hogy az erdős és behavazott vidéken rábukkanjanak a meteoritra. A Norsar igazgatója, Anne Lycke szerint is óriási szerencse kellene ahhoz, hogy megtalálják.
