Több mint száz értékes műalkotást rongált meg a tűz a seattle-i Davidson Galériában.
A tűz feltehetően egy sikátorban keletkezett, de a lángok hamar átterjedtek a szomszédos galériába.
„A galériában mintegy 16 ezer darab műalkotás volt, ezek egyenként akár 9–10 millió forintot is érhetnek” – mondta a galéria vezetője, Rebecca McDonald.
„Legalább két Picassótól és Rembrandttól származó metszet is a megrongálódott” – közölte McDonald.
A szakemberek körülbelül 50–75 műalkotásról állapították meg, hogy javíthatatlan kárt szenvedtek a tűzben, a többi műalkotást megpróbálják restaurálni.

A Kárpátaljai Vámhivatal hivatalos választ kapott a Boksay József Kárpátaljai Megyei Szépművészeti Múzeum szakembereitől 18, a vámosok által vámszabályok megsértése miatt lefoglalt festmény művészeti szakértői vizsgálatának eredményével kapcsolatban.
A festményeket egy hónappal ezelőtt foglalták le, a művészeti alkotásokat illegálisan akarták behozni az országba. A hatóságok lefoglalták a 35 éves férfi járművét, a festményeket pedig szakértői vizsgálatra küldték. Mint kiderült, minden alkotás művészi, antik és gyűjtői értéket képvisel, összértékük 1 millió 273 ezer hrivnya. A festmények a 19–20. században készültek.
A hírt a megyei vámhivatal sajtószolgálata közölte.

Eltűnt 120, a RAI olasz közmédia tulajdonában lévő műalkotás a műsorszolgáltató irodáiból szerte az országban, gyanú szerint becstelen alkalmazottak lopták el őket – írták a pénteki olasz lapok.
Az ellopott alkotások között olyan művek szerepelnek, mint Amadeo Modigliano Petit fils, Camille Corot La Route de Sevre, Claude Monet Paysage de Verneuil, vagy Giorgio de Chirico Vita nei campi című festménye. Ez utóbbit utoljára 2004-ben látták a RAI római székházának falán lógni.
Nyomtalanul eltűnt a közmédia szimbólumának számító, az 1960-as évek óta a RAI székházának bejárata előtt álló lószobornak – a szicíliai Francesco Messina alkotásának – egy másolata is.Egyes esetekben értéktelen másolatokkal helyettesítették az ellopott műveket.
A kár tízmillió eurós nagyságrendű lehet.
Az olasz közmédia mintegy 1500 darabból – festményből, szoborból, faliszőnyegből – álló, 100 millió euró értékű műgyűjteménnyel rendelkezik, 1996-ban kiállítást is rendeztek a legszebb festményekből a dél-olaszországi Leccében.
Az évtizedek alatt elkövetett lopásokra akkor derült fény, amikor észrevették, hogy Ottone Rosai firenzei expresszionista festő Architettura című képét másolattal pótolták. Az eredetit még az 1970-es években lopta el egy alkalmazott, aki aztán eladta azt. A tolvaj kiléte ismert, de cselekménye már elévült. A római ügyészség és a csendőrség műkincsvédelmi részlege vizsgálatot folytat az évtizedekre visszanyúló rejtélyes műkincseltűnések ügyében.
A művészeti alkotásokat az előfizetési díjakból vásárolták.
