Előzetes letartóztatásba tették szombaton éjszaka a nantes-i székesegyház felgyújtásával kapcsolatban egyszer már őrizetbe vett, de később szabadon engedett önkéntes templomszolgát, mert bevallotta, hogy ő volt a gyújtogató – közölte a francia város ügyészsége.
A 39 éves ruandai migránst először hétfőn vették őrizetbe, de akkor tagadta, hogy köze lenne a tűzhöz, és eljárás megindítása nélkül szabadon engedték. Majd szombaton is őrizetbe vették, és kihallgatása közben bevallotta, hogy ő okozott tüzet három helyen: két orgonánál és az énekszöveg-kivetítő elektronikus táblánál – mondta el egy helyi napilapnak az illetékes ügyész. Hozzátette: a laboratóriumi vizsgálatok alátámasztják, hogy szándékos gyújtogatás történt a nyugat-franciaországi Szent Péter és Pál gótikus katedrálisban, emiatt eljárást indítottak a gyanúsított ellen.
A tüzek megsemmisítették az egyik orgonát, amelynek eredeti változatát még a 15. században építették.
Mint azt korábban is írtuk, július 18-án éjszaka gyulladt ki a nantes-i székesegyház. Már akkor felmerült, hogy a nyugat-franciaországi gótikus katedrálist szándákosan gyújthatták fel, a templomban miseszolgaként dolgozó 39 éves férfit vádolták a tűzesettel. De aztán mindent tagadott, ezért elengedték.
Úgy tudni, a migráns néhány éve érkezett Franciaországba, a templomban lakott, és vitája volt a rendőrséggel, mert a tartózkodási engedélyét nem akarták meghosszabbítani.
A templomban óriási kár keletkezett, nem csupán az egyik orgona égett le teljesen, Hippolyte Flandrin 19. századi francia festőművész egyik alkotása is megsemmisült.

Őrizetbe vett egy férfit a francia rendőrség a nantes-i székesegyházban keletkezett tűz miatt – közölte vasárnap Pierre Sennes nantes-i bűnügyi vezető ügyész.
A 39 éves férfi a nantes-i egyházmegye önkéntese, akinek „a feladata volt, hogy péntek este bezárja a székesegyházat, és a nyomozók tisztázni akarják a férfi munkaidő-beosztásának egyes kérdéseit” – mondta az ügyész. A ruandai férfit később őrizetbe vették.
A nyomozók ki akarják hallgatni a székesegyház bezárásának a körülményeiről is.
Az ügyész hozzátette, hogy egyelőre korai bármilyen következtetéseket levonni a férfi érintettségével kapcsolatban.
A kelet-franciaországi Nantes XVI. századi gótikus székesegyházában szombat reggel csaptak fel a lángok. A Szent Péter és Szent Pál-katedrálisban található több műalkotást, így a nagyorgonát és a homlokzat festett üvegablakait tönkretette a tűzvész.
2019. április 15-én a francia főváros jelképének számító Notre-Dame székesegyházban keletkezett tűzvészben leégett az épület tetőzete, és leomlott a huszártorony is.
