Több mint 60 palesztin újságírót tartanak fogva különböző izraeli börtönökben, miután az izraeli hatóságok a Hamász október 7-i támadása után több újságírót is őrizetbe vettek a palesztin megszállt területeken.
A palesztin újságírók szakszervezetének közlése szerint összesen 61 újságíró van börtönben, közülük 46-ot a Hamász terrortámadása után vettek őrizetbe.
Az újságírók többsége a megszállt Ciszjordániából és Gázából származik, és nagyrészük adminisztratív őrizetben van – mondta el Suruk Aszad, a szakszervezet szóvivője az EFE spanyol hírügynökségnek. Aszad elmondása szerint Izrael hivatalos vádemelés és tárgyalási időpont nélkül tartóztatja le a palesztin újságírókat, így azt sem lehet tudni, mikor ér véget pontosan bebörtönzésük – jegyezte meg.
„Nagyon kegyetlenül bánnak velük, a kihallgatások nagyon kemények és intenzívek” – idézte fel a korábbi fogvatartottak beszámolóit Aszad. Az egyik szabadon engedett rab hivatalos beszámolója szerint a kihallgatások során meztelenre vetkőztetik őket, majd nyílt terepre viszik őket, ahol sértegetik és meg is verik őket – tette hozzá a szóvivő.
Az újságírók elleni jogsértéseket világszerte dokumentáló New York-i székhelyű Újságírók Védelmének Bizottsága (CPJ) jelentése szerint a háború kirobbanása óta rendkívül nehéz és ellenséges környezetben kell a különböző médiumoknak tájékoztatást nyújtaniuk.
A CPJ által a legtöbb bebörtönzött újságíróról készített éves listára idén Izrael is felkerült. Jodie Ginsberg, a szervezet igazgatója azt mondta, hogy Izrael jelenléte a listán „bizonyíték arra, hogy egy olyan alapvető demokratikus norma, mint a sajtószabadság eltűnőben van, miközben Izrael drákói módszereket alkalmaz a palesztin újságírók elhallgattatására – mondta.
