Az oroszok összeesküvést szerveztek a német Rheinmetall AG fegyvergyártó cég vezérigazgatójának, Armin Papperger meggyilkolására.
A CNN öt amerikai és nyugati tisztségviselőre hivatkozva azt közölte, hogy az amerikai hírszerzés az év elején fedezte fel, hogy az orosz kormányzat döntött a gyilkosságról. Az orosz fél eddig semmiféle kommentárt nem fűzött a sztorihoz, ahogy sem az amerikai, sem a német hírszerzés nem nyilatkozott a konkrét esetről, és a Rheinmetall sem.
A lap névtelen forrásai szerint mindenesetre ez csupán az egyik merénylet lett volna a sok közül, amelyeket az oroszok védelmi ipari csúcsvezetők ellen szerveztek Európában. Olyan menedzsereket akarhattak likvidálni, akik támogatták Ukrajna háborús erőfeszítéseit. Azonban Armin Papperger meggyilkolásának terve volt a legkiforrottabb.

Németországban baloldali szélsőségesek felgyújtották Armin Pappergernek, a Rheinmetall hadiipari konszern vezetőjének vidéki házát, mert szerintük elavult fegyvereket ad el Ukrajnának – közölte szerdán az rbc.ua hírportál a Bild című német lapra hivatkozva.
A jelentés szerint az újság arról tájékoztatott, hogy Papperger nyaralóját az Alsó-Szászországban található Hermansburg községben felgyújtották. A baloldali szélsőségesek az általuk közzétett levélben azt írták: „2024. április 28-ról 29-re virradó éjszaka felgyújtottuk Armin Papperger vidéki házát a telkén.”
A baloldaliak szerint a Rheinmetall azon cégek közé tartozik, amelyek profitálnak a „fordulópontból”. Így nevezi Olaf Scholz német kancellár Oroszország Ukrajna elleni háborúját. A baloldaliak hozzátették, hogy a Rheinmetall régi katonai felszereléseket halmoz fel, amelyeket hatalmas haszonért lőszerrel együtt elad Ukrajnának. „A Rheinmetall nem csak országos méretekben tervez, gyárt és gyilkol” – áll a baloldali üzenetben.
A német hatóságok már megkezdték a nyomozást, és ellenőrzik a levél hitelességét.
