Az Egyesült Államok és Brazília után az ázsiai országban igazolták a Covid–19 betegség legtöbb halálos áldozatát. Indiában átlépte a 300 ezret a koronavírus halálos áldozatainak száma hétfőre virradóra.
Az elmúlt 24 órában 4454 halálesetet igazoltak, ez a második legmagasabb szám a szerdán rögzített 4529 után – tudatta indiai egészségügyi minisztérium. A tárca 222 315 új fertőzöttről is hírt adott.
A legfrissebb adatokkal a Covid-19-nek már 303 720 halálos áldozata van Indiában, közülük 50 ezret az elmúlt két hétben jelentettek, az igazolt fertőzöttek száma pedig meghaladta a 26,7 milliót.
Az elmúlt hetekben a szubkontinensnyi országban sorra dőltek meg a koronavírus-járvány fertőzöttjeinek napi rekordjai, és szakértők arra is figyelmeztetnek, hogy az áldozatok valódi száma vélhetően sokkal magasabb a hivatalos adatoknál.
A fertőzés terjedésének a gyorsaságát mutatja, hogy míg a járvány első 100 ezer halálos áldozatát kilenc hónap alatt regisztrálták, ez a szám alig hét hónap alatt 200 ezerre nőtt, a harmadik 100 ezret pedig csupán 26 nap alatt jelentették.
A járvány lassítása érdekében az ország több állama kijárási korlátozásokat léptetett életbe, a kormány egyik tudományos főmunkatársa, K. Vidzsaj Ragavan mindazonáltal úgy vélte: India nem kerülheti el a járvány harmadik hullámát.
A több mint 1,3 milliárdos országban eddig körülbelül 196 millió oltást adtak be a koronavírus ellen, ezek közül 942 722 dózist vasárnap, ám továbbra sincs elegendő oltóanyag. Az oltási kampány során három vakcinát használnak: az AstraZeneca helyben előállított oltóanyagát, a Covishieldet, a saját gyártású Covaxint és a Szputnyik V orosz oltást.

Az idei év januárjában 621 személy halt meg influenzában és tüdőgyulladásban Ukrajnában, ami 30 százalékkal kevesebb, mint a tavalyi esztendő azonos időszakában – adta hírül szerdán az Ukrinform hírügynökség az Állami Statisztikai Hivatal közlésére hivatkozva.
A statisztikai hivatal adatai szerint az influenzában és tüdőgyulladásban elhunytak száma 2020 januárjában 621 volt, míg 2019 első hónapjában ugyanezekben a betegségekben 908-an haltak meg. Az idén legtöbben, 59-en Dnyipropetrovszk megyében, 58-an Kijevben, 57-en Zaporizzsja, 48-an pedig Harkiv megyékben vesztették életüket a jelzett kórokban. Legkevesebben, 4-en Ivano-Frankivszk, 9–9-en Szumi, Cserkaszi és Csernyivci megyékben vesztették életüket hasonló okokból.
Összehasonlításképpen: 2019 januárjában az influenza és tüdőgyulladás a legtöbb áldozatot, 99-et Kijevben, 88-at Dnyipropetrovszk, 71-et Zaporizzsja, 66–66-ot Harkiv és Donyeck, 55-öt Csernyihivi, 54-et Kijev megyékben szedte. Tehát Kijevben és Kijev megyében idén januárban csak 92-en haltak meg a két megbetegedésben szemben a múlt évi 143-al
A statisztikai hivatal adata szerint 2019-ben a tüdőgyulladásos halálok 111-szer volt magasabb az influenzásnál. Tíz megyében egyetlen influenzás halálesetet sem regisztráltak a vizsgált időszakban.
