Több száz szerb rendőr vonult ki szombaton a szerb–magyar határra, illetve a közeli településekre az egy nappal korábbi, migránsok között kitört horgosi fegyveres leszámolást követően.
A szabadkai Pannon RTV helyszíni beszámolója szerint a rendőrök, illetve a rendőrség különleges egységei több helyen tábort vertek, a horgosi művelődési házba is beköltöztek, így feltehetően hosszabb ideig maradnak a térségben.
A péntek hajnali, három halálos áldozatot követelő horgosi lövöldözéssel összefüggésben hat migránst állítottak elő, négyen afgán, ketten török állampolgárnak vallották magukat. A férfiakat illegális fegyvertartással és lőszerek illegális előállításával gyanúsítják. A helyszínről további 79 illegális bevándorlót szállítottak el.
A szerb–magyar határ mentén több ezer migráns vár arra, hogy átszökhessen az Európai Unióba.
Bratislav Gasic belügyminiszter leszögezte: a rendőrség addig nem mozdul, amíg fel nem kutatja az összes olyan migránst, aki részt vett az incidensekben, lövöldözésekben és bűncselekményekben. Hozzátette: Szabadkát a bevándorlók elfeledhetik, minden szállást ellenőriznek, és minden rejtőzködőt felkutatnak.
Az illegális bevándorlókat szállító taxisofőröknek pedig azt üzente, a belügyminisztérium el fogja kobozni a járműveiket, mert bizonyos módon ők is bűnrészesei az embercsempészetnek azáltal, hogy szállítják a migránsokat.
Aleksandar Vucic szerb köztársasági elnök egy pénteki televíziós interjúban kijelentette: a rendőrség teszi a dolgát, de ha szükséges, a katonaságot is bevetik a határon kialakult helyzet kezelése érdekében.
A migrációs válság tetőpontján, 2015-ben körülbelül egymillió illegális bevándorló haladt át az úgynevezett nyugat-balkáni útvonalon, amelynek Szerbia is része. Hivatalos adatok szerint az illegális bevándorlás legnépszerűbb útvonala még mindig a nyugat-balkáni szárazföldi út.
Mivel a szerb hatóságok nem toloncolják ki azokat, akiket elfognak, csupán az ország északi határától a déli határig szállítják őket vissza, a migránsok sok esetben újra útra kelnek, és néhány nappal később elérik a magyar határt, ahol ismét megkísérelnek bejutni az Európai Unióba.

Egy migránscsoport erőszakkal próbálta átlépni a szerb–magyar határt kedden este Ásotthalomnál – tájékoztatta a Csongrád-Csanád Megyei Rendőr-főkapitányság szóvivője az MTI-t.
Szabó Szilvia közölte, a 15 főből álló csoport 20 óra után illegálisan akart átjutni Magyarország területére Ásotthalomnál, ezért a szerb oldalról gázspray-vel lefújták a határt védő egyenruhásokat. Az erőszakos határátlépési kísérlet következtében négy katona könnyebben megsérült, orvosi ellátásra szorultak.
A szolgálatot teljesítő rendőrök és katonák a jogellenes határátlépési kísérletet megakadályozták – tudatta a százados.
