Ivóvízhiány miatt szükségállapotot hirdettek Majdanpeken. A kelet-szerbiai település tíz kilométerre fekszik a Dunától, de hegyvidék választja el a folyótól. Az elhúzódó aszály okozza az ivóvízhiányt.
Egy helyi lakos mondja, hogy palackozott vizet vásárolnak, és amikor lajtoskocsi érkezik, megtöltik a kannákat és más edényeket.
A 15 ezres népességű Majdanpek a Pek-patakról kapta a nevét, a vízfolyásban idén nagyon kevés a víz. Mivel a városnak van saját víztartálya, így a kórházat nem érintette a korlátozás, de a lakossági felhasználást már az előző napokban is napi 8 órára korlátozták. Az állatok itatása is gondot jelent.

Szükségállapotot hirdetett Vjacseszláv Gladkov, az oroszországi Belgorod régió kormányzója – írja a Guardian a Reuters hírügynökségre hivatkozva.
A belgorodi régióban a helyzet továbbra is rendkívül nehéz és feszült. Ezért úgy döntünk, hogy a mai naptól kezdődően a Belgorodi terület egészére kihirdetjük a regionális szükségállapotot – idézték a kormányzó szavait, aki hozzátette azt is: a kormányhoz fordulnak a szövetségi szintű szükségállapot kihirdetése érdekében.
A kormányzó szerint az ukrán drónok Belgorodot is támadás alá vették. Az ukrán fegyveres erők drónjai itt két települést támadtak meg, áldozatokról nem érkezett jelentés.
Belgorod az ukrajnai Harkiv régióval határos, de szomszédos az orosz Kurszk régióval is, ahová Ukrajna nemrégiben meglepetésszerű offenzívát indított.

A kanadai Niagara Fallsban szükségállapotot hirdettek arra készülve, hogy akár egymillió látogató is érkezhet a városba az április eleji napfogyatkozásra.
Az április 8-án bekövetkező napfogyatkozás különlegessége, hogy 1979 óta először lesz látható a Niagara-vízesés környékén, mely a National Geographic szerint a lehető legjobb rálátást nyújtja a jelenségre.
Jim Diodati, Niagara Falls polgármestere március elején azt mondta, hogy a városban egymillió látogató is összegyűlhet ezen a napon. Ezért a regionális önkormányzat az eseményre való biztonságos felkészülés érdekében rendkívüli állapotot hirdetett ki csütörtökön.
A jeles napon jelentős forgalmi dugók, a segélyszolgálatok fokozott igénybevétele és a mobiltelefon-hálózat túlterhelése várható.
A napfogyatkozás reggelre eléri Mexikó csendes-óceáni partvidékét, majd átlósan átvág az Egyesült Államokon Texastól Maine-ig, s késő délutánra Kanada keleti részén búcsúzik a nézőközönségtől. A kontinens többi részén részleges napfogyatkozás lesz látható – írja a The Guardian.

Gabriel Boric államfő televíziós beszédben jelentette be, hogy szükségállapotot rendel el a katasztrófa miatt. Elmondta, hogy a lángok gyors terjedése miatt nagyon súlyos a helyzet, és az időjárási körülmények is a tűznek kedveznek.
„Ez Chilében a legsúlyosabb természeti katasztrófa a 2010-es földrengés óta, amikor 500-an haltak meg”-mondta Carolina Tohá belügyminiszter, aki úgy vélte, a tűznek még további áldozatai lesznek.
A közlések szerint a legnehezebb helyzetben Valparaíso régiója van, különösen a tengerparti Vina del Mar város, ahol több mint 370 eltűntet tartanak számon. A tűzoltók helikoptereket is bevetnek a lángok megfékezésére. Szombat este 43 ezer hektáron égett a tűz, és a tűzoltók elsősorban azon fáradoztak, hogy meggátolják tovaterjedését a lakott területeken. A katasztrófában már ezernél több lakóépület semmisült meg.

Egész államra kiterjedő szükséghelyzetet hirdetett Észak-Dakota kormányzója pénteken a jeges eső és téli vihar okozta károk miatt. Az Egyesült Államok északi és középső része fölött karácsonykor komoly havazással és jeges esővel, valamint szélviharral vonult át egy téli viharzóna, aminek nyomán Észak-Dakotában is több tízezer ember maradt áram nélkül, és még pénteken is több ezer fogyasztónál szünetelt a szolgáltatás.
A kormányzó közölte, hogy Joe Biden elnöktől szövetségi katasztrófahelyzet kihirdetését is kéri, ami központi források igénybevételét teszi lehetővé a károk elhárítására. Észak-Dakotában elsősorban a jeges, illetve ónos eső okozott károkat, ugyanis a csapadék ráfagyott a villanyvezetékekre, amelyek több helyen leszakadtak és villanyoszlopok is kidőltek a viharban.
A veszélyes útviszonyok miatt a hatóságok kénytelenek voltak lezárni egyebek közt a Kanada felé vezető autópályát, miközben az állam fővárosában, Bismarckban csak kedden 175 autóbaleset történt a lefagyott utakon. Az időjárási helyzet lehetővé tette egyes lakónegyedekben, hogy az ott élők a fagyott utcákon korcsolyázzanak.
Az Egyesült Államok nyugati partvidékét péntekre virradóra szökőárhoz hasonlatos óriási hullámok árasztották el, több helyen áradásokat okozva. Tengerparti sétányokon többen megsérültek, miután a több méter magas hullámok elérték a gyalogosok által használt területet is.
A meteorológiai beszámolók szerint Észak-Kalifornia tengerpartját helyenként 8-10, de néhol 12 méter magasságú víztömeg érte el, és hasonló nagyságú hullámok okoztak parti áradásokat a Hawaii-szigetek egy részén is. Az amerikai országos időjárás-előrejelző szolgálat azt közölte, hogy a rendkívüli hullámokat a Csendes-óceánon kialakult vihar hozta létre.

A heves viharok és a hirtelen lezúduló hatalmas eső miatt szükségállapotot hirdetett Kathy Hochul, New York állam kormányzója.
New York város számos metróhálózatát, utcáját és autópályáját elöntötte a víz, míg a LaGuardia repülőtér egyik terminálját pénteken lezárták, később azonban újra megnyitották – írja a BBC.
A város egyes részein rövid idő alatt 20 centiméternyi eső hullott, az esővíz befolyt a metrómegállókba, az autós- és gyalogos aluljárókba.
„Ez egy veszélyes, életveszélyes vihar ”– mondta Kathy Hochul kormányzó.
„Szükségállapotot hirdetek New York város, Long Island és a Hudson-völgy területén a rendkívüli esőzések miatt” – közölte Hochul kormányzó az X-en (korábbi nevén Twitter).
Felszólította az embereket, hogy maradjanak biztonságos helyen, és ne próbáljanak meg az elárasztott utcákon közlekedni.
Halálesetről vagy súlyos sérültekről eddig nem érkezett jelentés.
New York városban Eric Adams polgármester arra figyelmeztette az embereket, hogy a szükségállapot bevezetésével fokozott éberségre és rendkívüli óvatosságra van szükség. „Néhány metrót elárasztott a víz, és rendkívül nehéz a városban közlekedni” – mondta egy sajtótájékoztatón.
Péntek este Adams arról adott tájékoztatást, hogy 15 mentés történt autókból és három mentés pincehelyiségekből.
Az áradások a New York-i metróhálózatban és a Metro North elővárosi vasútvonalban jelentős fennakadásokat okoztak a Metropolitan Transportation Agency szerint. Néhány metróvonalat teljesen leállították, és számos állomást lezártak.
A várostól északra fekvő Westchester megye külvárosában, Mamaroneckben a katasztrófavédelmi tisztviselők felfújható csónakokkal mentették ki az árvíz miatt épületekben rekedt embereket – jelentette a Reuters.
A képeken és videofelvételeken jól látni, hogy az emberek térdig érő vízben gázolnak, miközben az utcákat és a metróvonalakat heves esőzések sújtották. A közösségi médiára feltöltött felvételeken látható, hogy a metróállomások mennyezetéről és faláról, valamint az elárasztott peronokról ömlött a víz.
