Az izraeli hadsereg és a libanoni síita Hezbollah egysége között tűzharc tört ki a libanoni határnál – tudatta hétfő délután az izraeli 12-es kereskedelmi televízió.
A tévé értesülése szerint a Hezbollah egyik csoportja támadó akciót próbált végrehajtani a vitatott, Seba ültetvények nevű területnél a libanoni-izraeli-szíriai határ háromszögében, de az izraeli hadsereg sikeresen visszaverte.
A Hezbollah harcosai RPG páncéltörő rakétát lőttek egy, a határon járőröző izraeli katonai járműre, amit a támadókra adott tűzzel viszonoztak. Az akció a Hezbollah válasza volt egy múlt héten Szíriában, Damaszkuszban végrehajtott izraeli légicsapásra, amelyben életét vesztette a Hezbollah egyik harcosa.
Az izraeli hadsereg felszólította a határ mentén élőket, hogy tartózkodjanak otthonaikban, és elrendelte a határ menti üdülőlétesítmények, kajakkölcsönzők bezárását. A tűzharc kitörése után lezárták az Izrael északi határvidékéhez vezető utakat, és ellenőrizték a helyi forgalmat, mert attól tartottak, hogy esetleg fegyveresek hatolnak Izraelbe Libanonból.
Benjámin Netanjahu miniszterelnök és Beni Ganz védelmi miniszter bezárta pártjuk éppen folyó frakcióülését, és mindketten a Tel-Avivban található katonai főhadiszállásra utaztak.
Az izraeli hadsereg teljes készültségben volt az északi határon a múlt heti damaszkuszi incidens óta, mert a Hezbollahot vezető Haszan Naszrallah bosszúval fenyegette meg Izraelt. A katonai rádió beszámolója szerint a készültség miatt Aviv Kochavi vezérkari főnök a főhadiszálláson töltötte a hétvégét, és számos alakulatot vezényeltek az északi, libanoni határhoz.
A tűzharc kitörése után bő egy órával Izraelben befejezettnek nyilvánította a hadsereg az incidenst, és feloldották az útelzárásokat és a civilek korlátozásait. Ugyanakkor a tévé szakértői szerint a továbbra is magas készültségben maradnak a határ menti egységek, amíg megbizonyosodnak róla, hogy senki sem hatolt be Izraelbe a határon.
