Görögországban az emelkedő hőmérséklet miatt egyre több erdőtűz pusztít, a keddi művelet is egy bozóttűz oltása közben zajlott.
A dél-görögországi Korinthosz közelében is nagy tűz pusztít, több települést kellett evakuálni a város környékén. Több mint 180 tűzoltót, 15 repülőgépet és 12 helikoptert vetettek be az oltáshoz.
A hőmérséklet Görögország több részén a nyár folyamán 40 Celsius-fok körülire emelkedett, a tűzoltók számára komoly kihívás a forróságban oltani.
A görög kormány már májusban közölte, hogy idén több emberrel és eszközzel készülnek a bozóttüzekre, drónokat is bevetnek.

Lezuhant egy orosz tűzoltóhelikopter szerdán útban a törökországi Marmaris kikötővárosához egy erdőtűz oltásához, a legénység két orosz tagja életét vesztette – közölte a török mezőgazdasági és erdészeti miniszter.
Vahit Kirsci szerint három másik orosz és két török állampolgár megsérült a balesetben, de állapotuk nem válságos. Egyelőre nem világos, mi okozta az egyik mezőre zuhant orosz Kamov KA-32 helikopter szerencsétlenségét.
Az égei-tengeri üdülőváros közelében lángoló erdő ügyével kapcsolatban a török hatóságok elfogtak egy gyanúsítottat Mugla tartomány ügyészségének hivatala szerint. A Yalancibogaz nevű térségben készült felvételeken sűrű füstöt lehetett látni a tengerparti zöldellő dombok felett.
A török hatóságok tájékoztatása szerint az erdőtűz megfékezésére huszonhárom tűzoltóhelikoptert és tizennégy repülőgépet, valamint több mint hétszáz erdészt, nyolcvanhárom tűzoltóautót, illetve rendőrségi vízágyúkat is bevetettek.
