A jelentés szerint a madridi rendőrség kijevi idő szerint reggel 08:15 órakor kapott bejelentést a lövöldözésről. Ismeretlen fegyveres vagy fegyveresek megöltek egy férfit egy amerikai iskola kapujánál Madrid gazdag Pozuelo negyedében.
A Reuters nyomozást ismerő forrásai szerint Portnovról van szó. Más médiumok arról írtak, hogy a volt ukrán politikus a merénylet előtt iskolába vitte a gyerekeit.
