Több szavazatgyűjtő urnát is felgyújtottak az Egyesült Államok nyugati részén – írja az NBC News. Többek között Portlandben és a Washington állambeli Vancouverben is lángoló urnákhoz riasztották a hatóságokat.
Az oregoni Portlandban és Washington állambeli Vancouverben választási urnákat gyújtottak fel alig több mint egy héttel az amerikai választások előtt. A helyi rendőrség szerint a két incidens összefüggésben lehet egymással, mivel mindkét helyszínen ugyanazt a Volvo autót látták, és mindkét esetben gyújtószerkezetet használtak. Portlandben három, míg Vancouverben akár „több száz” szavazólapot is megrongálhattak a tűz során – írja az NBC News.
Portland központi körzetében egy utcai urnában helyezték el a gyújtószerkezetet, amelyet a rendőrség robbanóanyag-eltávolító egysége távolított el. A tűzet egy közeli biztonsági őr oltotta el még a rendőrök kiérkezése előtt. Vancouverben a Fisher’s Landing Transit Depot közelében találták meg a másik, füstölgő urnát, ahol egy gyanús szerkezetet is azonosítottak.
