Музичні інструменти загальною вартістю в кілька тисяч доларів спалили на багатті в провінції Герат на заході Афганістану.
З моменту приходу до влади у 2021 році таліби запровадили численні обмеження, зокрема заборонили виконувати музичні твори в громадських місцях.
Ахмад Шармаст, засновник Національного музичного інституту Афганістану, назвав спалення інструментів «культурним геноцидом і музичним вандалізмом».
«Народ Афганістану позбавлений мистецької свободи. Спалення музичних інструментів у Гераті – лише невеликий приклад культурного геноциду, який відбувається в країні під правлінням «Талібану», – сказав BBC Ахмад Шармаст.
Відколи відбулася зміна влади, замовкли й музичні школи.
Як видно на оприлюднених в інтернеті світлинах, серед спалених у Гераті інструментів були гітара, фісгармонія, барабан, а також підсилювачі й колонки. Більшість пристроїв вилучили з місць проведення весіль.
Під час першого правління «Талібану» в 1996–2001 роки на громадських заходах, телебаченні та радіо була заборонена будь-яка музика.
Протягом двох десятиліть після падіння «Талібану» музичне життя процвітало, але з поверненням ісламістів у серпні 2021-го багато музикантів утекли з країни. Музиканти та співаки, які залишилися в Афганістані, повідомляють про жорстоке поводження та дискримінацію.
За останні два роки таліби ввели ряд серйозних обмежень відповідно до суворого тлумачення ісламського права. Заборони стосуються в першу чергу жінок, яким не дозволено вчитися та працювати в гуманітарних організаціях.
На початку липня таліби наказали закрити по всій країні перукарні й салони краси.
