Під час своєї риболовлі на каяку біля острова Оаху, Скотт Харагучі зіткнувся із захопливою подією, яку вдалося відобразити на своїй камері GoPro. На відеозаписі можна побачити, як акула наближається до його човна зі значною швидкістю. Вона з силою стикається з каякою і на мить вчепляється в нього зубами, майже перекидаючи судно.
Проте Харагучі зміг зберегти рівновагу і відбити напад акули, відштовхнувши її ногою.
Після цього він закричав приятелю: „Тигрова акула! Тигрова акула, Ренді!”
Сам чоловік зізнався, що, лише подивившись його вдома, зрозумів, наскільки йому пощастило.
„Все сталося так швидко. Я інстинктивно витягнув ліву ногу з води, щоб уберегтися від удару, а потім відштовхнув голову акули. Якби мене попросили це повторити, навіть без акули, не думаю, що мені вистачило б гнучкості”, — написав він.
Унаслідок зіткнення з акулою чоловік не отримав жодних травм, проте на його каяку залишилися сліди від зубів хижачки. Пізніше він припустив, що акула напала, оскільки прийняла його човен за тюленя, особливо з огляду на те, що він помітив одного тюленя неподалік.
„Я зрозумів, що життя коротке, і наш час на землі обмежений. Використовуйте його на повне і будьте ласкаві до людей”, — сказав він в інтерв’ю телекомпанії KITV4.
Тигрові акули поширені біля узбережжя тропічних і субтропічних вод Світового океану. Ці хижі риби можуть досягати довжини до п’яти з половиною метрів і становлять значну загрозу для людей. Біля берегів Гавайських островів щорічно стається приблизно три-чотири нападів тигрових акул.

Гавайський вулкан Кілауеа почав вивергатися всередині кратера Халемаумау на вершині у четвер, 5 січня. Менше ніж через місяць після того, як вулкан і його більший сусід Мауна-Лоа припинили викид лави, геологічна служба США помітила ознаки нового виверження.
Напередодні цього вулканічна обсерваторія побачила світіння на знімках вебкамери.
Вершина цього вулкана розташована далеко від людських будинків — у Національному парку Гавайських вулканів. Відомо, що від 27 листопада 2022 року на Гаваях викидали лаву два вулкани одночасно. На Гаваях 28 листопада вперше за майже 40 років розпочалося виверження найактивнішого вулкана у світі – Мауна-Лоа. Востаннє його активність фіксували ще у 1984 році.
Про це повідомляє CNN.
В управлінні туризму Гаваїв стверджують, що виверження не загрожує населеним пунктам чи авіарейсам на острів. Однак у Національній метеорологічній службі людям із респіраторними захворюваннями порадили залишатися вдома, щоб не вдихати частинки попелу, або ж прикривати обличчя маскою чи тканиною.
Гарячий попіл може пошкодити транспортні засоби, будівлі та рослини, забруднити джерела води, порушити роботу каналізаційних та електричних систем, а також роздратувати очі та легені мешканців острова.
Наразі потоки лави стримуються в районі вершини Мауна-Лоа, тому не загрожують населеним пунктам, що розташовані на схилі.
«З досвіду минулих подій – ранні стадії виверження Мауна-Лоа можуть бути дуже динамічними, а розташування та просування потоків лави можуть швидко змінюватися», — заявили в обсерваторії.
Мауна-Лоа — один із п’яти вулканів, які утворюють Гавайські острови у штаті Гаваї в Тихому океані. Мовою гавайців Мауна Лоа означає «Довга Гора».
Найбільший субаеральний вулкан як за масою, так і за обсягом, історично вважався найбільшим вулканом на Землі, зараз поступився лише масиву Таму. Це активний щитовий вулкан з відносно пологими схилами, об’єм якого оцінюється приблизно у 75 000 км³, а висота становить 4 169 м.н.м. (всього на 37 метрів менша, ніж у сусіднього вулкана Мауна-Кеа). За оцінками, Мауна-Лоа вивергається вже, щонайменше, 700 тис. років, а піднявся над рівнем моря приблизно 400 тис. років тому.
