Останнім часом у центрі Манхеттена почастішали вечірні демонстрації з критикою ізраїльських атак. Днями невелика група протестувальників на чолі з членами групи, яка називає себе Блоком письменників, зайняла фойє штаб-квартири NYT, вимагаючи припинення вогню.
Вони пробули там близько години, зачитуючи імена тисяч палестинців, у тому числі майже сорока журналістів, які загинули внаслідок боїв.

Ще трьох дітей госпіталізували після вживання наркотиків у дитячому садку Бронкса. Двох людей у цій справі затримала поліція.
Однорічний Ніколас Домінічі відвідував ясельну групу лише тиждень, після чого помер від передозування наркотиками. Під час обшуку в закладі виявили, що під матрацом ліжечка був захований фентаніл – одне з найпотужніших синтетичних наркотичних знеболювальних засобів. Імовірно, хлопчик вдихав наркотик щодня під час післяобіднього сну. Троє інших дітей були доставлені в лікарню. Ймовірно, вони також вдихнули фентаніл. Одному з них лише 8 місяців.
Поліція затримала двох осіб за звинуваченням у зловживанні наркотиками та вбивстві. Одна із них — власниця дитячого садка Грей Мендес, інший — орендар Карлісто Авеседо Бріто. Окружний прокурор Манхеттена Демієн Вільямс заявив, що прокурори вважають, ніби підсудні отруїли чотирьох немовлят, убивши одного з них, тому що вони використовували дитячий садок для торгівлі наркотиками.
Під час обшуку закладу під матрацом одного з ліжечок, в яке вкладали спати дітей, знайшли кілограм фентанілу. Крім того, поліцейські виявили пристрій для пресування та фасування наркотика.
Згідно із записами камер із відеоспостереження, які були в будівлі, коли власниця Грей Мендес помітила, що діти почуваються погано, вона спочатку подзвонила чоловікові, а вже потім у службу екстреної допомоги. Чоловік прийшов у дитсадок і вийшов із будівлі через чорний вихід із двома наповненими сумками. Напередодні арешту Грей Мендес видалила зі свого телефону близько 20 тисяч повідомлень, але пізніше вони були відновлені фахівцями.
Поліція ще розшукує чоловіка. За словами адвоката Грей Мендес, обвинувачена не знала, що в закладі були заховані наркотики.
