Двигун літака Delta Air Lines затягнув працівника аеропорту Техасу, внаслідок чого він загинув. Інцидент стався у п’ятницю близько 23 години в міжнародному аеропорту Сан-Антоніо, незабаром після того, як рейс 1111 прибув із Лос-Анджелеса.
За деякими даними, літак щойно приземлився і саме кермував до воріт, коли сталася трагедія. Нібито один із двигунів на той момент ще не був зупинений, хоча поки невідомо, хто відповідальний за те, що сталося, розслідування ще триває, повідомляє New York Post.
Працівник аеропорту був найнятий Unifi Aviation, компанією, яка уклала контракти з авіакомпаніями, такими як Delta, для виконання наземних функцій. Обидві компанії висловили жаль із приводу того, що трапилося, і висловили щирі співчуття родині загиблого, запевнивши у подальшій співпраці з правоохоронними органами.
Подібний інцидент стався і в новорічну ніч: у регіональному аеропорту Монтгомері, штат Алабама, загинув працівник наземної бригади, якого затягнув двигун літака American Airlines (AA).

Мер міста Матадор Пет Сміт заявив, що щонайменше троє людей загинуло і що інші могли постраждати. Він також додав, що було завдано «дуже багато пошкоджень».
Зазначається, що у Роллінг-Плейнс були масові збої в електропостачанні, у тому числі більше 700 споживачів залишилися без світла в районі Джейтон. Найзначніші збитки виявилися в Матадорі — місті з населенням близько 570 осіб за 112 кілометрів на північний схід від Лаббока в окрузі Мотлі.
За даними Національної метеорологічної служби Лаббока, шторми також спричинили град розміром із тенісний м’яч та пориви вітру, що перевищували 161 км за годину в інших населених пунктах, включаючи Джейтон.
Минулого тижня щонайменше троє людей загинули і десятки були госпіталізовані після того, як торнадо пронісся північною частиною штату Техас.

У Техасі в торговому центрі Allen Premium чоловік відкрив стрілянину. Він вбив 8 людей і кількість жертв могла б бути більшою, якби його не зупинили.
Ввечері 6 травня офіційні особи Техасу повідомили, що 8 людей було вбито в результаті стрілянини в торговому центрі неподалік Далласа. Ще 7 постраждалих проходять лікування в травмпунктах.
2 людини померли в лікарні
Стрілок у торговому центрі застрелив 6 людей. Начальник пожежної охорони Джонатан Бойд повідомив, що після стрілянини щонайменше 9 людей було відправлено до лікарень. Двоє з них з того часу померли. Троє наразі перебувають у критичній хірургії, решта четверо у стабільному стані. Серед поранених є діти.
Почувши постріли, покупці та співробітники залізли до складських приміщень та сховалися. Деякі люди ховалися на місці до двох годин, поки правоохоронці очищали великий комплекс й шукали потенційних напарників.
Стрілка вбив офіцер, який перебував неподалік
Поліція повідомила, що стрільця вбив офіцер поліції. Це сталося дуже швидко. Він перебував у торговому центрі та розмовляв по телефону. В один момент він почув постріли, пішов на стрілянину, вступив у бій із підозрюваним та нейтралізував його. Наслідки стрілянини могли б бути гіршими, якби не оперативні дії правоохоронця.
До слова, спершу поліцейські шукали другого стрільця, але тепер в органах заявляють, що на їхню думку він діяв один.
Цей збройний напад є одним із щонайменше 199 масових розстрілів у США за останній рік. Нещодавно у Техасі чоловік вбив своїх сусідів, які попросили його не стріляти у дворі, тому що це заважає дитині заснути. У результаті чоловік увірвався до їхнього будинку та застрелив 5 людей, серед яких 8-річна дитина.

Перший цьогорічний ураган дістався південно-східного узбережжя штату Техас у Сполучених Штатах.
Подекуди пориви вітру сягали 145 км/год. Нищівний вітер руйнував пристані в бухтах і зривав дахи будинків у місті Корпус-Крісті.
«Коли я виглянув у вікно, то побачив, як ураган вириває пальми, і це було жахливо», – розповів один із місцевих жителів.
Величезний вітер прийшов з відливом, тому морська вода затопила узбережжя, що, у свою чергу, викликало кілька зсувів.
Епідемія коронавірусу також ускладнює оборону. На сьогодні найбільш зараженими в Сполучених Штатах є вже не міста східного узбережжя, а південні штати, включаючи Техас. Лікарні переповнені хворими на Covid-19, тому ніде буде лікувати травми, отримані внаслідок стихії.
«Ми не можемо дозволити урагану спричинити ще більше смертей, допомагаючи поширити епідемію коронавірусу», – каже Грег Абботт, губернатор штату Техас. Тому в баскетбольній залі міста Мерседес буде створена лікарня швидкої допомоги для можливих постраждалих від стихії, додав він.
Наразі ідеальному літу на Гавайських островах, здавалося б, ніщо не заважає, проте до раю відпусток наближається набагато сильніший вітер зі швидкістю 190 км/год.
