На заході Афганістану в провінції Герат вранці у неділю стався черговий сильний землетрус магнітудою 6,4 бала. Про це повідомив Європейсько-Середземноморський сейсмологічний центр (EMSC) 15 жовтня.
За його даними, землетрус стався за 32 кілометри на північний захід від адміністративного центру провінції міста Герат о 3:36 за часом UTC (5:36 за Києвом).
Епіцентр піземних поштовхів залягав на глибині 10 кілометрів.
Інформація про можливі жертви та руйнування поки не надходила.

Після суботнього землетрусу, який забрав понад дві тисячі життів, у країні стався ще один.
На заході Афганістану напередодні вранці стався ще один землетрус. За даними Геологічної служби США, землетрус силою 6,3 бала трапився за 30 кілометрів від адміністративного центру провінції Герат, на глибині 10 кілометрів.
Епіцентр суботнього землетрусу знаходився приблизно за 40 кілометрів на північний захід від адміністративного центру провінції, після чого відбулося кілька повторних поштовхів. За даними офіційних осіб Талібану, внаслідок суботнього землетрусу в провінції Герат загинуло понад 2 тисячі людей.
Пізніше влада заявила, що внаслідок землетрусу загинуло кілька тисяч людей, але точну кількість не назвали.
Точних даних про збитки влада також не назвала. Але, зокрема у одному лише поселенні Наїб Рафі, яке раніше налічувало близько 2500 жителів, залишилося лише кілька неушкоджених будівель. Мешканці кажуть, що майже ніхто не вижив, окрім чоловіків, які працювали надворі, коли стався землетрус.
За даними талібів, зруйновано близько двох тисяч будинків у двадцяти селах.
У постраждалому від землетрусу регіоні є лише одна лікарня.

Під час першого правління «Талібану» в 1996–2001 роки на громадських заходах, телебаченні та радіо була заборонена будь-яка музика.
Протягом двох десятиліть після падіння «Талібану» музичне життя процвітало, але з поверненням ісламістів у серпні 2021-го багато музикантів утекли з країни. Музиканти та співаки, які залишилися в Афганістані, повідомляють про жорстоке поводження та дискримінацію.
За останні два роки таліби ввели ряд серйозних обмежень відповідно до суворого тлумачення ісламського права. Заборони стосуються в першу чергу жінок, яким не дозволено вчитися та працювати в гуманітарних організаціях.

Щонайменше дев’ять людей загинули і ще семеро отримали поранення внаслідок раптових повеней в середу в афганській провінції Парван, неподалік столиці Кабул.
За словами речника уряду провінції Саїда Хекматулли Шаміма, повінь пройшла через кілька сіл у районах Сіагард і Шиморті у вівторок вдень через сильні дощі. Стихійне лихо призвело до людських і матеріальних втрат, зокрема, зруйнувано 200 житлових будинків, 1 000 акрів сільськогосподарських угідь, 36 км доріг, кілька водних каналів, вбило десятки тварин.
За останні чотири дні в Афганістані внаслідок раптових повеней загинуло понад 30 людей, ще кілька отримали поранення, йдеться в офіційній заяві міністерства з питань надзвичайних ситуацій.
За словами Мохаммада Шафі Рахімі, прес-секретаря міністерства, щонайменше 26 людей загинули в районі Джалрез через проливні дощі, а їхні будинки були зруйновані. Водночас, за його словами, в Кабулі внаслідок повені загинуло четверо людей, 70 осіб отримали поранення, а 40 вважаються зниклими безвісти.
Метеорологічна служба Афганістану повідомила, що в найближчу добу в деяких регіонах країни прогнозуються нові дощі і повені.
