В автобусі включно з водієм перебувало 35 осіб. Водій втратив контроль над транспортним засобом біля міста Катагум після того, як пробилося колесо. Згідно з повідомленням, автобус кілька разів розвернуло, і зрештою він зіткнувся з деревом.







Серед пасажирів були й діти. У Нігерії часто трапляються дорожньо-транспортні пригоди. Причинами цього в основному є перевантаженість доріг, їхній незадовільний стан та безвідповідальне водіння.

Британський суд визнав винними колишнього заступника голови сенату Нігерії та його дружину, які, згідно з обвинуваченням, організували переправлення нігерійського вуличного торговця до Лондона з метою видалення нирки чоловіка для трансплантації їхній доньці, яка страждала від серйозної хвороби нирок, – повідомили в Прокуратурі Великобританії (CPS).

Постраждалого переконали в тому, що його везуть до британської столиці по роботі, за що, згідно з домовленістю, він мав отримати кілька тисяч фунтів, йдеться в повідомленні прокуратури.



Справа набула розголосу після того, як потерпілий звернувся в лондонську поліцію та повідомив, що його вивезли з Нігерії та намагалися видалити його нирку.



Зрештою операція не відбулася, оскільки в одного з лікарів медичного закладу Royal Free Hospital виникли підозри через обставини запланованого втручання і він вирішив не проводити трансплантацію.



Генеральний прокурор Джоан Якимец у своїй заяві назвала справу «огидною» і заявила, що, використовуючи свій вплив, підсудні до останнього тримали під контролем жертву, обрану в якості донора органів, не зважали на його здоров’я, в той час, як він не до кінця розумів, що насправді відбувається навколо нього.

Інцидент відбувся в Румуекпе в штаті Ріверс на узбережжі Атлантичного океану. За інформацією місцевих джерел, кількість жертв може зрости. Про завдану довкіллю шкоду наразі нічого не відомо. Подібні нещасні випадки в минулому призводили до руйнівних пожеж та забруднення прилеглих вод.



Нігерія – один із провідних виробників нафти в Африці, але значна частина доходу від цієї галузі йде в кишені корумпованого керівництва.



Населення багатої на нафту дельти Нігеру переважно бідне, до того ж обмежене в сільськогосподарській діяльності та рибальстві через видобуток нафти.



Сиру нафту з трубопроводів часто викрадають і переробляють на нелегальних заводах, іноді використовуючи небезпечні методи. Тому в країні час від часу відбуваються подібні вибухи. Найбільш смертоносна аварія сталася в 1998 році. Тоді понад тисячу людей загинули під час викачування нафти з пошкодженого трубопроводу.

За словами речника, вибух, що сколихнув район, стався у вівторок ввечері, коли пастухи фулані переганяли свою худобу з Бенуе до Насарави, оскільки в Бенуе діє заборона на випас худоби, а тварин порушників конфісковують. За словами речника, в результаті вибуху загинуло щонайменше 54 людини, але ще більше жертв отримали поранення.



Абдуллахі Суле, губернатор Насарави, підтвердив, що стався вибух бомби, і зазначив, що він консультується з представниками силових структур щодо того, як подолати напруженість у зв’язку з цим інцидентом.



У районі, відомому як центральна зона, часто відбуваються сутички між пастухами-фулані і переважно християнськими фермерами, які часто описують як етнорелігійні конфлікти.



У той же час, необхідність обробляти все більше і більше землі через зростання населення і зміни клімату також призводить до конфліктів, в результаті чого скорочується площа пасовищ для кочових стад скотарів.

У заяві поліції говориться, що озброєні пастухи напали на станцію Том Ікімі, коли пасажири чекали на поїзд до Варрі, нафтового вузла в сусідньому штаті Дельта. Станція знаходиться приблизно за 111 км на північний схід від столиці штату Бенін-Сіті і неподалік кордону зі штатом Анамбра.



За даними поліції, внаслідок нападу кількох людей на станції було поранено. Комісар за інформацією штату Едо Кріс Оса Нехікхаре підтвердив, що викрадачі забрали 32 особи, хоча одному викраденому вдалося втекти.



„Наразі співробітники служби безпеки, які складаються з військових та поліції, а також людей з мережі лінчувальників та мисливців, активізують пошуково-рятувальні операції в розумному радіусі для порятунку жертв викрадення”, – зазначив Нехікхаре.

Унаслідок наїзду автомобіля на учасників святкового карнавалу у Нігерії загинуло щонайменше семеро людей, ще 29 отримали травми.

Зазначається, що інцидент трапився у штаті Крос Рівер під час щорічного вуличного карнавалу у місті Калабар, коли легковик втратив контроль та в’їхав у натовп глядачів.




“Семеро людей загинуло на місці, а поранених доправили до лікарні для надання медичної допомоги”, – йдеться в повідомленні.




Через смертельний інцидент усі заходи в рамках карнавалу було на день припинено.



Водій, який спричинив смертельну ДТП, втік з місця події та наразі перебуває у розшуку.

Влада країни сформувала комітет з розслідування розкрадань та втрат у нафтовидобувній галузі.







Втрати Нігерії від розкрадання нафти та нафтопродуктів, а також актів вандалізму на нафтопроводах з 2009 по 2020 рік склали 46 млрд доларів. Про це 15 грудня повідомила газета This Day з посиланням на заяву нігерійського відділення громадської організації Ініціатива прозорості видобувних галузей (NEITI).



Зазначається, що загальний обсяг вкраденої нафти складав 619,7 млн барелів.



У зв’язку із серйозними збитками, завданими нафтовому сектору, уряд Нігерії спільно з NEITI сформував комітет з розслідування розкрадань та втрат.



Представники нігерійської філії NEITI заявили, що звернуться до країн-учасниць організації за технічною допомогою під час розслідування. Вони наголосили, що „деякі нігерійські чиновники вступали в змову з іноземцями для особистого збагачення”.



Ідеться про справу швейцарської компанії Glencore – однієї з найбільших світових гірничодобувних компаній. Вона підозрюється у підкупі високопосадовців Нігерії для укладання контрактів із Нігерійською національною нафтовою компанією.



NEITI – міжнародна ініціатива, яка сприяє забезпеченню прозорості доходів та підзвітності у видобувній галузі. Стаючи її членами, країни зобов’язуються розкривати інформацію на усіх етапах діяльності видобувних компаній від отримання прав на видобуток до розподілу доходів від продажу. До організації входять близько 60 держав.

Сильна повінь спричинила хаос у регіоні Огбару штату Анамбра. Згідно із заявою офісу президента Нігерії Мухаммаду Бухарі, на борту судна перебувало 85 осіб.



У Нігерії часто трапляються аварії на човнах, здебільшого через перевантаження човнів, високу швидкість, недотримання правил дорожнього руху або поганий стан плавзасобів.
