 A tájékoztatás szerint három holttestet szombat este fedeztek fel egy taxi csomagtartójában. A rendőrség ugyanakkor arról számolt be, hogy másik négy holttestre vasárnap Acapulco különböző területein bukkantak.
  A hatóság azt is közölte, hogy vasárnap robbanószerkezeteket dobtak egy rendőrőrsre – írja az El Economista.

 „Az elmúlt órák eseményeire való tekintettel Acapulco különböző övezeteiben és kiemelt területein fokoztuk erőink bevetését, együttműködve a hadsereggel és a nemzeti gárdával” – derült ki a déli Guerrero állam közbiztonsági titkárságának közleményéből.
 Később ugyanez az ügynökség arról számolt be, hogy ismeretlenek három robbanószerkezetet dobtak egy acapulcói rendőrőrsre, amelyek közül kettő felrobbant, egyet pedig a hatóságok semlegesítettek.
 A Csendes-óceán partján fekvő híres tengerparti üdülőhely, Guerrero államban található, és a drogkartellek bűnözői tevékenysége által leginkább sújtott területek közé tartozik. Területén tavaly mintegy 1890 gyilkosságot jegyeztek fel.
 Május végén 6 holttestet találtak Acapulco egyik utcáján. Néhányuknak a keze össze volt kötözve. Június 17-én a kikötőváros egyik autópályáján lelőtték Salvador Villalbát, aki a június 2-én tartott választásokon lett Copala város polgármestere.
 A kartellekkel kapcsolatos erőszakos cselekményeknek Mexikóban 2006 óta, amikor Felipe Calderón elnök katonai offenzívát indított a kábítószer-kereskedelem ellen, mintegy 450 ezer halottja és több mint százezer eltűntje van.

 Mexikó történelmének egyik legerősebb vihara 27 emberrel végzett és több százmilliárd forintnyi kárt okozott az üdülővárosban.
 A fosztogatók prédájává vált Acapulco városa, ahol szerdán Mexikó történelmének egyik legerősebb vihara végzett óriási pusztítást. Az Otis hurrikán 266 kilométer per órás széllel érte el a Csendes-óceán partján fekvő üdülővárost, és több százmilliárd forintos kárt okozott. A viharban 27 ember vesztette életét.
 „Ez a totális káosz. Leírhatatlan, nincsenek szavaim arra, amit látok. Soha életemben nem láttam még ilyet. Acapulco elpusztult. Az utak, a víz, az áram. A tengerpart szemétdombbá változott” – mondta egy étteremtulajdonos, egy turista pedig arról beszélt, hogy soha nem hitte, hogy ilyen tragikus helyzetbe kerülhetnek. Nagyon várták már az utazást, két hétre jöttek, de a negyedik napon mindennek vége lett.
 Mexikó elnöke, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador arra szólította fel a helyieket, hogy ne éljenek vissza a kínálkozó lehetőséggel, és ne fosztogassák a megrongálódott üzleteket és lakóházakat. Az elnök azt is megígérte, hogy a kormány segíteni fog a katasztrófa károsultjainak.
 A nagyjából egymilliós város felében továbbra sincs áramszolgáltatás, a kulcsfontosságú repülőtér viszont már újra működik. A hatóságok szükségállapotot hirdettek, és légifolyosót hoztak létre Acapulco és Mexikóváros között a turisták kimentésére.
