 Terrortámadás történt ugyanis a Beninben található W Nemzeti Parkan, amely közvetlen Burkina Faso és Niger határának közelében található – számolt be róla az AP hírügynökség. A támadásban nyolcan vesztették életüket, köztük katonák, parkőrök és egy francia instruktor is.
 A benini kormány szóvivője közölte, hogy a halálos áldozatokon kívül még legalább egy tucat ember megsérült és egy robbantás is történt a terrortámadás kereteiben. A parkőrök éppen a szokásos ellenőrző körútjukon voltak, hogy kiszúrják az orvvadászokat, amikor a támadás történt.
 Egy szervezet sem vállalta még a felelősséget a támadás miatt, de Nyugat-Afrikában több olyan terrorszervezet is működik, mely ezer szállal kötődik az Al-Kaidához vagy az Iszlám Államhoz, és megannyi terrortámadásért tehetők felelőssé.
