Egyéb vagyontárgyai mellett legalább hét vállalata és luxusingatlanja volt a rendőrség szerint.
A Quitótól 80 kilométerre lévő Latacunga közepes biztonságú börtönében őrizték, míg a tárgyalást várta, ahol kábítószer-kereskedelem és pénzmosás lett volna a vád ellene.
Norerót Peruban is körözték kábítószer-kereskedelem miatt. 2020 közepén úgy sikerült elmenekülnie az igazságszolgáltatás elől, hogy a koronavírus-világjárvány közepette megrendezte a saját halálát, és Ecuadorba menekült a hatóságok szerint. Ügyvédei bemutatták hamisított halotti bizonyítványát, sőt fotóval is alátámasztották a halálát.
Helyi idő szerint kedd délben katonák tucatjai érkeztek a börtönhöz, hogy megerősítsék a biztonságot és a civil személyzetet evakuálják.
Az elmúlt években számos véres összecsapás tört ki az ecuadori börtönökben a szemben álló bandák között.
Tavaly 316 elítélt vesztette életét az összecsapásokban, idén eddig 106-an haltak meg a hatóság adatai alapján.
A legsúlyosabb összecsapás 2021 szeptemberében történt, a guayaquili börtönben 125 elítélt halt meg. Két hónappal később ugyanabban az intézményben 65 rab lelte halálát a harcokban – számolt be az MTI.

A Caloocan városi börtönben történt hétfőn a halálos verekedés rivális bandák között, amit Xavier Solda, a Börtönigazgatóság és a büntetés-végrehajtás szóvivője közölt a nyilvánossággal. Elmondása alapján két rab verekedni kezdett, majd mások is csatlakoztak a harchoz, fegyvereket és pengéket használva.
Az első ilyen incidens január 2-án a fővárosi New Bilibid börtönben történt, melynek során három rab meghalt és 14 megsebesült – olvashatjuk a CNA oldalán.
“Már majdnem két éve, hogy a COVID-19 miatt nincs fizikai látogatás a létesítményeinkben, így nem tudjuk félretenni azt a szempontot, hogy ez lehetett az egyik oka annak, hogy mások is csatlakoztak a két PDL (szabadságuktól megfosztott személy) közötti verekedéshez” – mondta Solda, majd hozzátette, hogy a rend fenntartása érdekében megerősítették a létesítményen belüli biztonsági intézkedéseket.
Az erőszak sajnálatos módon gyakori a Fülöp-szigeteki börtönökben, ahol nem megfelelő az infrastruktúra, emellett az igazságszolgáltatási rendszer is rendkívül túlterhelt, ez pedig magával hozza azt is, hogy a cellák olykor ötszörösére vannak megtöltve.
A Caloocan városi börtön jelenleg körülbelül 1900 rabot tart, holott az kevesebb, mint 200 rab számára lett megtervezve eredetileg.
