 Lángokban áll Kaliforniában a híres Napa-völgy szőlővidéke is, amely a népszerű és elismert kaliforniai borok származási helye – adta hírül az MTI.
  Kalifornia északnyugati vidékén felerősödtek és egyre gyorsabban terjednek a bozóttüzek, melyek elérték a híres szőlővidéket is. A jókora, mintegy 4500 hektárnyi területről keddre virradóra több mint 34 ezer embert kellett kiköltöztetni az otthonukból, és a tűzoltóság további 14 ezer embert értesített, hogy álljon készenlétben a távozásra.
 A híradás szerint egyes híres szőlészetek már teljesen a lángok martalékává váltak. Az Egyesült Államokban közvetített riportokban többen is arról beszélnek, hogy elhagyják végleg ezt az egyébként csodálatos vidéket. A bozóttűz áldozata lett 2017-ben a Napa-völggyel szomszédos Sonoma megye, amely szintén híres szőlő- és borvidék.
 A tűzoltók mellett több mint ezer katona is segít a tűzvész megfékezésében, többek között helikopterekről is próbálják oltani a pusztító lángokat. A kaliforniai tűzoltóság közleménye szerint a tagállamban augusztus 15. óta mintegy másfél millió hektáros területen egyszerre 8100 helyen vannak bozóttüzek, a tűzvész eddig 26 ember életét követelte és épületek ezrei égtek le.
 Az Egyesült Államok meteorológiai szolgálata továbbra is hőséget és szárazságot jósol, ami kedvez a tűznek, ráadásul a terjedését gyorsíthatják az egyes vidékekre előre jelzett óránkénti 85–95 kilométeres széllökések.
