Az iráni egyetemisták szombat óta tartanak kormányellenes tüntetéseket, jelentette a Reuters és az Iran International.
Tüntetések törtek ki a fővárosban található Teheráni Egyetem, az Al-Zahra Női Egyetem és az Amir Kabir Egyetem kampuszain.
A diákok gyűléseket tartottak, jelszavakat skandálva Ali Khamenei, Irán legfelsőbb vezetője ellen és a száműzetésben élő ellenzéki személyiség, Reza Pahlavi herceg támogatására.
A gyűlések során a tüntetők taposták és elégették az Iszlám Köztársaság zászlaját. A Guardian írása szerint néhány diák fára mászott a kampuszon, és játékegereket aggatott az ágakra, megpróbálva gúnyolni Khameneit. Ily módon azt mutatták, hogy úgy rejtőzködik a föld alatt, mint egy egér.
A média beszámolói szerint a diákok „halál a diktátorra”, „minden megöltért ezer jön”, és „a kiontott vér soha nem mosódik le” skandálták.
Az AP jelentése szerint tüntetés tört ki a Teheráni Egyetemen a korábbi tüntetéseken elhunyt diák megemlékezése során, a diákok „nők, élet, szabadság” skandálták. A Reuters megerősítette a videót, amelyen az Al-Zahra Egyetem diákjai olyan jelszavakat skandálnak, többek között „visszavesszük Iránt”, de nem tudták megerősíteni, hogy mikor készült a felvétel.

Egyetemistákat szállított tanulmányi kirándulásra az a busz, amely Kolumbia nyugati részén zuhant a mélybe – számol be róla a Newsroom Infobae.
Az Armenia városában található Humboldt Egyetem 22 hallgatóját, két oktatóját és egy kommunikációs munkatársát szállító busz egy híd korlátjának ütközött, miután a sofőr elvesztette uralmát a jármű felett – mondta el a sajtónak Luis Fernando Atuesta rendőrparancsnok. Az ütközés következtében többen kizuhantak a buszból a szakadékba.
A balesetben legalább tízen meghaltak, tizenegyen pedig megsérültek.
Az érintett egyetem hivatalos közleményben fejezte ki mély gyászát, és kétnapos gyászt hirdetett az áldozatok emlékére.
Ez fájdalmas veszteség közösségünknek – nyilatkozta Diego Fernando Jaramillo Lopez, az egyetem igazgatója egy videóüzenetben.
A hatóságok átfogó vizsgálatot indítottak annak felderítésére, hogy műszaki hiba, az út állapota vagy esetleg emberi mulasztás vezetett-e a tragédiához. Eközben a mentőszolgálatok folyamatosan gondoskodnak a sérültekről.
Kolumbiában súlyos problémát jelentenek a közúti balesetek. Az országos közútkezelő hatóság adatai szerint 2024-ben naponta átlagosan 22 halálos közúti baleset történt.

Palesztinpárti aktivisták újabb egyetem, a Fordham területén kezdtek tüntetést New Yorkban szerdán, miután a hatóságok előző éjszaka felszámolták a Columbia Egyetemen kialakított törvénytelen sátortábort.
A Fordham Egyetem néhány utcányira fekszik a Columbia épületeitől.
A tiltakozást a Diákok az Igazságért Palesztinában nevű országos aktivistaszervezet helyi csoportja vezeti. A Fordham Egyetem területén úgynevezett „Gáza Szolidaritási Tábort” létesítettek, ahol egy „Diák intifáda” feliratú transzparenst feszítettek ki.
Közleményük szerint azt követelik a felsőoktatási intézmény vezetőségétől, hogy „hagyjon fel annak a retorikának a támogatásával, amely fenntartja a cionizmust az egyetemen”. Emellett követelik a kapcsolatok megszüntetését minden izraeli érdekeltséggel, ideértve a jeruzsálemi Héber Egyetemet.
A Fordham vezetése felszólította a tüntetőket, hogy számolják fel a szabályellenesen létrehozott táborukat, valamint a rendbontásban részt vevő diákok hallgatói jogviszonyát felfüggesztette.
Kedden késő este a rendőrség ürítette ki a Columbia Egyetem egyik főépületét, a Hamilton Hallt, amelyet a tiltakozók erőszakkal foglaltak el. Az intézkedés során mintegy 230 embert vettek őrizetbe. Szerdán a Columbia Egyetem területén már nem volt tüntetés, de az intézmény bejáratánál ismét demonstráció kezdődött.
Szerdán a Nevadai Egyetem Las Vegas-i területén is megjelentek az Izrael ellen tüntetők.
