Mintha csak egy családi vígjáték jelenete lenne: egy éhes elefánt megjelenik a bolt előtt, majd egyszerűen besétál, végignézi a polcokat, és kiválasztja a kedvenc harapnivalóit. Ez történt Thaiföldön, a Khao Yai Nemzeti Park közelében, ahol Plai Biang Lek, a helyiek körében már jól ismert harmincéves ormányos, nem először kutatott magának finomságokat, de most először válogatott a polcok között – írta az AP News.
A bolt tulajdonosa, Kamploy Kakaew nem ijedt meg, sőt, inkább megmosolyogta a helyzetet. Elmondása szerint az elefánt kilenc csomag édes rizspogácsát, egy szendvicset és némi szárított banánt majszolt el.
„Nem bántott senkit, csak éhes volt. És nagyon udvariasan viselkedett” – mesélte nevetve.
Plai Biang Lek végül egy csomag nassolnivalóval az ormányában távozott, és bár némi sárfoltot hagyott maga után a bolt padlóján és plafonján, semmi komoly kárt nem okozott.
A nemzeti park önkéntesei szerint az elefánt régi ismerős, aki korábban már több ház konyhájába is belesett.
Az elefántok Thaiföldön egyre gyakrabban kerülnek közel az emberekhez, mivel élőhelyeik zsugorodnak, és az élelemért gyakran kell elhagyniuk az erdőt. 2024-re az országban mintegy 4000 vadon élő elefántot tartottak nyilván.
