„Az első vizsgálatok szerint egy háziállatként tartott leopárdról van szó, és nem vadállatról, a leopárd nagyon megijedt, és folyamatosan üvöltött” – mondta az AFP-nek Tariq Bangash, az iszlámábádi vadvédelmi hivatal igazgatója.
Pakisztán tavaly betiltotta az egzotikus állatok behozatalát, miután az elmúlt években az import sok fejfájást okozott a vadvédelmi tisztviselőknek.
A nagymacskákat a gazdagság és a hatalom szimbólumának tekintik az országban.
Az elszabadult leopárd hat embert sebesített meg könnyebben, mielőtt elfogták és ideiglenesen a város egykori állatkertjébe vitték, amelyet még 2020-ban zártak be.
