A New York-i Times Square-en vasárnap kora reggel leöntöttek egy 45 éves férfit gyúlékony folyadékkal, majd felgyújtották. Az áldozat súlyos égési sérüléseket szenvedett az arcán és a karjain, de életben maradt – számolt be a New York Post.
A lángoló férfi – miután felgyújtották – körülbelül 30 métert futott, mialatt egy arra járó autóból valaki kiugrott, és poroltóval eloltotta a tüzet.
A támadás után számos mentős gyűlt a helyszínre, ahol az áldozatot – aki félmeztelenül, takaróba bugyolálva állt a járdán – stabil állapotban mentőautóba helyezték, és kórházba vitték.
A támadó északi irányba menekült a Broadwayn. A rendőrség jelenleg is keresi a tettest, és a környező üzletek biztonsági kameráinak felvételeit vizsgálja az azonosítás érdekében. Egyelőre nem tudni, hogy célzott vagy véletlenszerű támadásról volt-e szó.

Harkiv megyében egy 17 éves fiatal megerőszakolt és felgyújtott egy 15 éves lányt, aki 10 nappal később életét vesztette a kórházban. A tettest őrizetbe vették.
Az eset október 20-án történt, az elkövető ittas állapotban követte el a szörnyű bűntettet. A lány megpróbált elmenekülni, azonban bántalmazója utolérte, s egy tégladarabbal fejen ütötte. Az áldozat eszméletét vesztette – ekkor erőszakolta meg, majd gyújtotta fel.
A lány édesanyja és szomszédja felfigyeltek a füstre, értesítették a mentőszolgálatot, azonban az orvosok nem tudták megmenteni az áldozat életét – 10 nap múlva elhunyt.
Az ügyben folyik a büntetőeljárás.

A WJBK-TV-nek a detroiti tűzoltóság tűzvizsgálati vezetője, Dennis Richardson az incidens kapcsán elmondta, hogy a nők éppen megérkeztek munkahelyükre, amikor a férfi benzint öntött rájuk, majd egy öngyújtóval felgyújtotta őket.
Mindkét áldozatot súlyos égési sérülésekkel szállították egy detroiti kórházba. A támadót is kórházba vitték, noha ő csak kisebb sérüléseket szenvedett.- számolt be róla a Liner.hu
James White rendőrfőnök tájékoztatása szerint a férfi korábban az üzlet alkalmazottja volt, de nemrég felfüggesztették, ő pedig a nőket vélte felelősnek ezért.
A támadót hivatalosan még nem nevezték meg, de a rendőrség annyit elárult, hogy gyilkossági kísérlet miatt indítványozta a férfi elleni vádemelést. A hatóságok jelenleg is vizsgálják az eset körülményeit.
Az ügyészség szerdán bejelentette, hogy több vádponttal vádat emeltek a férfi ellen.
A Wayne megyei ügyész, Kym Worthy és Lisa Coyle asszisztens ügyész azt mondta, hogy a férfit elbocsátották egy nyomdaipari berendezésekkel foglalkozó cégnél, mert fenyegető leveleket hagyott két női munkatársának – írta a Detroit Free Press . A férfit azzal vádolták, hogy szeptember 1-jén benzinnel leöntötte és felgyújtotta a 33 éves Cheptegeit, amikor hazatért két gyerekével a templomból. A futónő testének nyolcvan százaléka megégett, a kórház intenzív osztályán kezelték, de négy nappal a támadás után belehalt sérüléseibe. Volt barátját, és egyben támadóját is ugyanott kezelték, a férfi testének 30 százaléka égett meg.
Rebecca Cheptegei 2010-ben kezdett versenyezni, hosszú távokra, félmaratonra, maratonra specializálódott, de indult terepversenyeken is. 2022-ben ő lett az első hegyifutó-világbajnokság női győztese is. Több városi maratonon, például Padovában és Firenzében tudott dobogóra állni, az idei olimpián a 44. lett ezen a távon, tavaly pedig a budapesti vb-n futva a 14. lett.
Cheptegei a harmadik élsportoló, akit 2021 októbere óta megöltek Kenyában. Halála reflektorfénybe helyezte a családon belüli erőszakot a kelet-afrikai országban, különösen a futóközösségen belül.

Ismeretlenek felgyújtottak egy katonai kisbuszt Dnyipróban, a rendőrség az ügyben nyomozást indított és keresi az elkövetőket – számolt be szerdán az rbc.ua hírportál a Dnyipropetrovszk megyei rendőrségre hivatkozva.
A jelentés szerint „a rendőrség katonai jármű felgyújtásának ügyében indított nyomozást. Intézkedéseket tesznek az elkövetők elfogására.” Mint a rendőrök elmondták, a bűncselekmény június 10-én éjszaka történt egy utcai parkolóban Dnyipróban.
A rendőrök már a helyszínen megállapították, hogy gyújtogatás következtében kapott lángra a hadsereg Volkswagen kisbusza. „A tűzben megsérült a motortér, az autó hűtője és a szélvédője. A bűncselekmény helyszínén üres benzines palackokat találtak” – tette hozzá közleményében a rendőrség.
Az előzetes információk szerint a gyújtogatásban személyek csoportja vett részt. Vagyontárgy szándékos megsemmisítése vagy károsítása címén indult büntetőeljárás.
