Perrel végződhet egy áprilisi tréfa, amelyet a Thai Vietjet fapados légitársaság munkatársai tweeteltek, adta hírül a CNN.
A bejegyzés egy aktivista ügyvéd szerint megsértette Thaiföld királyát, Maha Vajiralongkornt. A rendőrség később dönt arról, hogy az ügyvéd bejelentése nyomán büntetőeljárást indít-e a légitársaság személyzete ellen. Ha igen, a szigorú törvények értelmében a monarchia megsértése miatt akár 15 évet is kaphatnak az alkalmazottak.
A Thai Vietjet április 1-jén tweetelt arról, hogy a légitársaság új nemzetközi járatot indít a thaiföldi Nan tartomány és a németországi München között, ez pedig hatalmas felháborodást váltott ki a királypárti internetezők körében.
A sértő bejegyzést később eltávolították, a légitársaság pedig másnap közleményben kért bocsánatot.
Állításuk szerint a felső vezetés nem tudott a tweetről.
A bejegyzésben nem említették meg a 69 éves Vajiralongkorn királyt, aki ideje nagy részét Németországban tölti, és a Nan tartományban született, a királyi szerető címet hivatalosan birtokló Sineenat Wongvajirapakdi neve sem került elő. A király nem sokkal 2019-es megkoronázása után adományozta Sineenatnak a címet, korábban az év folyamán pedig feleségül vette testőrsége parancsnokhelyettesét, aki így megkapta a királynő címet, és a királyi család része lett.
Az elmúlt években a diákok által kezdeményezett tüntetéseken egyes aktivisták nyíltan bírálták a királyt, például azért, mert ideje jelentős részét az országon kívül tölti.
A tiltakozások 2020-as kezdete óta legalább 183 embert vádoltak meg a monarchia megsértésével.
A légitársaság vezérigazgatója, Woranate Laprabang az online felháborodásra reagálva közölte, hogy a bejegyzésért felelős alkalmazottakat felfüggesztették a vizsgálat lefolytatásáig. „Szeretnék még egyszer bocsánatot kérni a thaiföldi néptől az incidensért” – mondta Woranate.
Srisuwan Janya ügyvéd és aktivista azonban feljelentést tett a rendőrségen felségsértés miatt. Egy Facebook-bejegyzésben azt írta, hogy a tweet sértő szándékról tanúskodik, és hogy a bocsánatkérés nem elég.
Srisuwan jól ismert Thaiföldön: notórius feljelentő, aki saját elmondása szerint több mint 1000 bejelentést tett, egyebek mellett fogyasztóvédelmi ügyekben, illetve korrupció és környezetvédelmi ügyek miatt.

A thaiföldi büntetőbíróság összesen 87 évnyi szabadságvesztést rótt ki arra a nőre, aki a király családjával kapcsolatos kompromittáló, becsületsértő felvételeket osztott meg a világhálón.
A Bangkok Post arról írt, hogy amiért bevallotta a bűncselekményét, az ügyészség megfelezte a letöltendő börtönbüntetését, így valójában 43 év hat hónapot kell majd fogházban töltenie a nőnek.
Mielőtt 2018-ban letették érte az óvadékot, három éven és kilenc hónapon keresztül ült letartóztatásban, ugyanis ennyi ideig tartott, amíg egy másik ügyét kivizsgálták a nyomozók.
Mindezidáig az ország történelmének legsúlyosabb felségsértéséért 70 évet szabtak ki még 2015-ben egy férfira, aki tíz alkalommal tett közzé a közösségi médiában üzeneteket és fényképeket a királyi famíliáról. A tettes szintén bevallotta tettét, ezért az ő büntetését is a felére csökkentették.
Anchant először 2015-ban vette őrizetbe a rendőrség, miután 26 darab YouTube-videót és három Facebook-klipet töltött fel 2014 és 2015 folyamán az internetre. A felvételeken egy Banpodj nevű férfi hangja hallható, aki élesen kritizálta a királyságot, hovatovább korábban, a 2014-es sikertelen puccskísérlet után aktívan tevékenykedett a fájlmegosztó oldalakon.
A 60-as éveiben járó egykori kormányhivatalnok hölgy először tagadta, hogy köze lett volna az ügyhöz, később azonban a bíróság lejátszotta az összes videót, ezután pedig elismerte, hogy valóban ő készítette és töltötte fel őket a világhálóra.
Az ítélet ellen Anchan azonnal fellebbezett, ezért végső döntés csak később várható, addig viszont továbbra is letartóztatásban kell maradnia, hacsak nem mentik fel az összes vád alól, ami esetében szinte teljes mértékben kizárható.

Thaiföldön egy nőt az uralkodó megsértése és rágalmazása címén 43 és fél évet kell börtönben töltenie a közösségi médiára feltöltött tartalmai miatt a bíróság keddi ítélete szerint.
A nő a Facebookra és a YouTube videomegosztóra rakott ki 2014-ben olyan hangfelvételeket, amelyekkel a bíróság értékelése szerint felségsértést követett el.
Eredetileg 87 éves börtönt szabtak ki rá, de mivel bűnösnek vallotta magát, a bíróság a felére enyhítette a büntetést.
Jogvédők élesen bírálták a súlyos büntetés kiszabását. A felségsértést szankcionáló – sokak szerint – ellentmondásokkal teli jogszabály alapján egészen banális dolgok, például egy-egy Facebook-bejegyzés kedvelése miatt is szabtak már ki büntetést.
A bíróságnál nemcsak az uralkodóház tagjai tehetnek panaszt, ha úgy érzik, valaki megsértette vagy rágalmazta őket, hanem bárki indíthat – akár évekig is elhúzódó – eljárást, ha úgy ítéli meg, hogy valaki felségsértést követett el.
Az utóbbi tizenöt évben leginkább politikai fegyverként használták fel.
Tavaly viszont a demokratikus reformokat sürgető fiatal tüntetők azt is követelni kezdték, hogy újítsák meg a monarchia intézményét, amelyre sok thaiföldi szinte szentségként tekint.
A demonstrálók azt kifogásolták, hogy túl sok hatalom összpontosul az uralkodó kezében, ráadásul működését nem is lehet elszámoltatni.
A bíráló hangok miatt november óta a hatóságok mintegy 50 embert őrizetbe vettek, és felségsértés címén vádat emeltek ellenük.
