Kilenc ember meghalt szombaton a közép-amerikai Salvador fővárosában, San Salvadorban egy tömegoszlatás során, amikor szurkolók próbáltak meg bejutni egy stadionba, hogy megnézzenek egy első osztályú labdarúgó-mérkőzést – közölte a rendőrség.
A nemzeti polgárőrség a Twitter közösségi oldalon arról számolt be, hogy a Cuscatlan stadionnál történteknek kilenc halálos áldozata volt, többen megsérültek és kórházba kerültek, két sérült állapota súlyos.

Az első rendőrségi jelentések szerint a tömegoszlatást azok a szurkolók váltották ki, akik megpróbáltak bejutni a stadionba, hogy megnézzék a helyi Alianza és a CD FAS labdarugó csapat bajnoki mérkőzését.
A meccset félbeszakították, hogy a nézőket kimenekítsék.

Francisco Alabi egészségügyi miniszter biztosította az embereket, hogy az összes sérültet sürgősségi kórházi ellátásban részesítik.
Juan Carlos Bidegain belügyminiszter elmondta, hogy a polgári védelmi csapatok készenlétben állnak, hogy segítsenek az érintetteknek. A stadionba több száz rendőrt és katonát vezényeltek a rend helyreállítására.
