 A rendőrség gyanúja szerint a galamb kémkedett, így elfogták, majd a mumbai Bai Sakarbai Dinishaw Petit állatkórházba vitték. Végül kiderült, hogy a galamb egy Tajvanról származó nyiltvízi versenymadár, amely megszökött és eljutott Indiába. A rendőrség engedélyével a Bombayi Állatkínzás Elleni Társaság nevű szervezethez szállították, amelynek orvosai szabadon engedték.
 A hatóság nem kívánta kommentálni az esetet.
 Nem ez az első alkalom, hogy Indiában gyanús madarat fognak el. 2020-ban az indiai ellenőrzés alatt álló Kasmírban a rendőrség azután engedte szabadon egy pakisztáni halász galambját, hogy bebizonyosodott: nem azért repült át a két atomhatalom területe között húzódó, komoly fegyverarzenállal védett határon, mert kémkedett.
 2016-ban is őrizetbe vettek egy galambot, amelynél egy Narendra Modi indiai miniszterelnököt fenyegető üzenetet találtak.

 Az 1-es típusú madárparamyxovírus (APMV-1) által okozott betegség halálos idegrendszeri tünetek egész sorát okozza, például madaraknál szárnyremegést okoz. Embereknél nagyon ritkán fordul elő, és jellemzően csak kötőhártya-gyulladáshoz vezet.
 A kisgyermeket az új-dél-walesi Randwickben található Prince of Wales Kórházba szállították, miután három héten át megfázáshoz hasonló tünetekkel, hányingerrel és hányással küzdött.
 A kislány alig hat héttel korábban fejezte be a második kemoterápiás kezelését.
 Az orvosok szerint a gyerek nem utazott a közelmúltban, és nem érintkezett háziállatokkal vagy beteg családtagokkal.
 Az orvosi kezelés ellenére – a gyerek antibiotikumokat és görcsoldó gyógyszereket kapott – a lány állapota nem javult és egy hónappal a kórházba szállítása után meghalt.
 Halálát „valószínűleg agyvelőgyulladás okozta” az APMV-1 fertőzést követően. A vizsgálatok kimutatták, hogy a kislánytól vett minták eredményei hasonlóak voltak a korábban a fertőzött galambokból vett mintákhoz – írja a Daily Mail.
