Legalább öt ember meghalt, három pedig megsebesült a közép-horvátországi Daruvár idősotthonában hétfőn, miután egy fegyveres férfi behatolt az épületbe és lövöldözni kezdett – jelentette a horvát köztelevízió.
A helyi média értesülései szerint a férfinak sikerült elmenekülnie, de a rendőrség az idősotthontól nem messze található kávézóban elfogta és őrizetbe vette.
A Jutarnji List napilap és az N1 helyi tévécsatorna egyaránt úgy tudja, hogy az elkövető egy 1973-as születésű veterán, aki az 1990-es években lezajlott délszláv háborúban is harcolt. Elsőként az
otthonban lakó édesanyját ölte meg, a további négy áldozat pedig egyelőre tisztázatlan körülmények között vesztette életét és az otthon további lakói, illetve a dolgozói közül kerültek ki.
A három sebesültet kórházba szállították, egyikük állapota súlyos.
A rendőrség megkezdte az eset kivizsgálását és egyelőre nem közölt további részleteket sem a lövöldözés körülményeiről, sem az elkövetőről.
