A több évtizedes indiai–pakisztáni feszültségek újabb erőszakos hullámot váltottak ki szerda este, amikor mindkét ország hadserege lövedékeket lőtt ki a vitatott kasmíri régió de facto határán.
Az indiai védelmi szóvivő, Suneel Bartwal alezredes tájékoztatása szerint a pakisztáni hadsereg kézifegyverekkel és tüzérségi ágyúkkal támadta meg az indiai igazgatású Kasmírt, amit India arányos válaszcsapásokkal viszonzott.
Az eszkaláció közvetlenül a két ország hadserege közötti napi tűzpárbajok sorozatában történt, amelyet a Kasmírt kettéválasztó vitatott ellenőrzési vonalon vívtak.
A fegyveres összecsapások legújabb hulláma már áprilisi mészárlás óta tartó intenzív konfliktus része, amikor fegyveresek több indiai turistát gyilkoltak meg egy festői szépségű helyen. A támadások következtében 26 civil vesztette életét, és a határon túlra átterjedő fegyveres konfliktusok újabb vérontást eredményeztek.
Egy indiai védelmi forrás szerdán a CNN-nek nyilatkozva arról beszélt, hogy a pakisztáni hadsereg által leadott éjszakai lövések 12 civil életét követelték, miközben 57 személy megsebesült.
💥KIROBBANT INDIA ÉS PAKISZTÁN KÖZÖTT A HÁBORÚ
India bejelentette: Kasmír teljes területét uralma alá akarja venni, hogy az ott tartózkodó "terrorista" sejteket és infrastruktúrát felszámolja.
A kasmíri régió, amelyet India és Pakisztán több évtizede vitat, immár ismét a háborús összecsapások epicentrumává vált. Az országok közötti rivalizálás több évtizedes múltra tekint vissza, és a terület ellenőrzéséért folytatott küzdelem számos vérontást eredményezett a múltban. A jelenlegi helyzet egyre inkább arra utal, hogy a konfliktus mélyebb, stratégiai és politikai okokkal bír, a további eszkaláció pedig egyre valószínűbbé válik.
A felek közötti határvonal nemcsak területileg, hanem geopolitikai értelemben is kulcsfontosságú, hiszen Kasmír stratégiai jelentőségű a két ország számára.
A történelmi és a politikai érdekek fonódnak össze a régióban, miközben a mindennapi emberek élete továbbra is a háborús eszkaláció és a nemzetek közötti konfliktusok áldozata. Az indiai–pakisztáni kapcsolatok további romlása és a kasmíri határ mentén zajló harcok hosszú távon is komoly következményekkel járhatnak a dél-ázsiai térség stabilitására nézve.

A sérülteket a helyi kórházba szállították. A himalájai régióban, mely felett India és Pakisztán is uralkodik, emberek tízezrei haltak már meg annak ellenére, hogy az erőszak az elmúlt években mérséklődött – írja a Reuters.
Kasmírban turistákat célzó támadások ritkán fordultak eddig elő. A régióban az utolsó nagyobb támadás júniusban történt, legalább kilenc ember meghalt és 33-an megsérültek, amikor egy hindu zarándokokat szállító busz a mély szurdokba zuhant, miután iszlamista fegyveresek támadtak rájuk.
India 2019-ben visszavonta Kasmír különleges státuszát, és az államot két szövetségi fennhatóságú területre – Dzsammura, Kasmírra és Ladakhra – osztotta. A lépés a Pakisztánnal fenntartott kapcsolatok leromlásához vezetett, amely szintén magáénak vallja a régiót.
