Vang Ji kínai külügyminiszter a kínai parlament éves ülésszakához kapcsolódóan hétfőn Pekingben tartott sajtótájékoztatóján elmondta: az ukrajnai háborút illetően Kína a béketárgyalások folytatását sürgeti, és a nyugalom és észszerűség megőrzésére intett a válság rendezése érdekében.
Miközben Kína mind ez idáig elutasította az „invázió” megjelölést az orosz hadsereg Ukrajnában folytatott katonai hadműveleteit illetően, Vang a széles körű humanitárius válság elkerülésére szólított. A kínai külügyi tárca vezetője közölte: a kínai Vöröskereszt humanitárius segélyt fog nyújtani Ukrajnának.
Vang Kína és Oroszország kapcsolatát „sziklaszilárdnak”, Oroszországot pedig Kína legfontosabb stratégiai partnerének nevezte. Elmondta: a két ország kapcsolata az egyik legfontosabb kétoldalú kapcsolat a világon, és az együttműködésük jövője rendkívüli kilátásokkal kecsegtet.
Vang kijelentette: szükség esetén a kínai fél készen áll arra, hogy részt vegyen az ukrajnai helyzet megoldását célzó, nemzetközi közvetítő tevékenységben. Felidézte, hogy Hszi Csin-ping kínai elnök február 25-én Vlagyimir Putyin orosz elnökkel folytatott telefonos egyeztetésekor az ukrajnai helyzet békés megoldását célzó tárgyalásokat sürgetett, amire Putyin elnök „pozitívan reagált”. A két elnök egyeztetését követően az ukrán és orosz fél már két alkalommal tárgyalóasztalhoz ült – mondta Vang.
Vang elutasította az ukrajnai helyzet párhuzamba állítását Tajvan kérdésével, hangsúlyozva, hogy Tajvan „Kína elidegeníthetetlen része”, így a sziget kérdése Kína belügye.
