Egy bradfordi iskola tanulóinak kiosztott laptopokon különös fájlokat találtak a pedagógusok – írta a BBC. A készülékeket olyan diákok kapták, akik nem rendelkeznek saját eszközzel, hogy részt vehessenek a koronavírus-járvány miatt elrendelt otthoni oktatásban.
Az, hogy a gépeken furcsa fájlok vannak, egy tanároknak fenntartott online fórumon kezdett terjedni. Itt számoltak be arról is, hogy a készülékekre állítólag egy orosz szervekre kapcsolódó kémprogram, a Microsoft által 2012-ben felfedezett Gamarue.1 volt feltelepítve.
Később más intézmények tanárjai is jelezték, hogy a brit kormány által kiosztott gépek náluk sincsenek rendben, és valószínű, hogy azokra is ugyanaz a kártevő került fel. Azt nem tudni, hogy a vírus mikor és miként juthatott az eszközökre.
A brit oktatási minisztérium vizsgálatot indított az ügy miatt. Közleményükben azt is írták, hogy az eset csak kevés készüléket érint, noha a pontos számot nem mondták meg. A BBC emlékeztetett: a brit kormány eddig nagyjából 800 ezer laptoppal segítette a hátrányos helyzetű tanulókat a járvány alatt.
