Egy „rendkívül veszélyesnek” minősített hurrikán érte el Mexikó csendes-óceáni partvidékét. A Lidia hurrikán 4-es kategóriájú vihar, amely akár 220 kilométeres óránkénti szélsebességet hozott Jalisco államba – közölte az amerikai Nemzeti Hurrikánközpont (NHC) a lecsapódása előtt. Villámárvizek is várhatóak.
A hurrikán kedd este ért partot Puerto Vallarta üdülőváros közelében. Andrés Manuel López Obrador mexikói elnök közölte, a fegyveres erők 6000 tagját vezényelték ki a lakosok megsegítésére – írja a BBC.
A helyi lakosok menedéket keresnek a vihar elől, a boltosok pedig bedeszkázták az ablakokat és homokzsákokat halmoztak fel áradás esetére.
Korábban a város repülőtere bejelentette, hogy helyi idő szerint 16 órától (22 óra GMT) szerda reggel 8 óráig zárva tart.
Arra kérem a Nayarit és Jalisco között, különösen Bahia de Banderasban, Puerto Vallartában és Tomatlanban élőket, hogy tegyenek óvintézkedéseket – közölte az X közösségi médiaplatformon, azt ajánlva az embereknek, hogy maradjanak távol az alacsonyan fekvő területektől, a folyóktól és a lejtőktől.
A „brutális erősségű” hurrikán valószínűleg villámárvizeket és városi árvizeket fog okozni, valamint lehetséges sárcsuszamlásokat a magasabban fekvő területeken Nayarit államban, Sinaloa állam déli részein és a nyugat-mexikói Jalisco állam part menti területein.
A Lidia szélerőssége azonban várhatóan gyorsan gyengül, mivel a szárazföld belseje felé halad.
Mexikó csendes-óceáni partvidékének egyes részein a héten már jelentős áradások keletkeztek a Max trópusi vihar után. A helyi média jelentése szerint Guerrero államban két ember halt meg a vihar következtében.
