Magánegyetemek ellen tüntető görög diákok csaptak össze pénteken a biztonsági erőkkel Athénban, a hatóságok könnygázzal oszlatták a tömeget, amelyből gyújtópalackok is repültek a rendvédelmi szervek felé.
A görög parlament még a nap folyamán szavazni fog a magán felsőoktatási intézmények engedélyezéséről.
A kérdés hetek óta a görög belpolitikai élet kiemelt témája, hiszen az ország alkotmánya eddig tiltotta a magán felsőoktatási intézményeket.
A változtatás bírálói attól tartanak, hogy a jövőben a felsőoktatás már csak az elit számára lesz hozzáférhető, és az állami egyetemeket elhanyagolják.
A diákokon kívül tanárok és különböző szakszervezetek tagjai, valamint baloldali szervezetek is utcára vonultak a délután folyamán. Utóbbiak okoztak felfordulást és támadtak gyújtópalackokkal a rendvédelmi szervekre a parlament épülete előtt.
Időközben a görög törvényhozásban heves vita zajlott.
Kiriákosz Micotákisz görög miniszterelnök kijelentette, hogy „jelenleg több mint 40 ezer görög diák tanul külföldön értékes valutát kiadva”. Mint mondta, ezek a fiatalok a jövőben pénzüket belföldön adhatnák ki, csökkentve ezzel „az agyelszívás” jelenségét.
Az utóbbi években számos görög diák választott külföldi tanulmányokat, mert úgy vélte ott magasabb színvonalú oktatáshoz juthat. A fiatalok gyakran a tanulmányaik helyén telepedtek le, ami miatt a későbbiekben hiányoztak a görög munkaerőpiacról.
Micotákisz hangsúlyozta, hogy az állami felsőoktatási intézmények nem fognak háttérbe szorulni. Mint mondta, középtávon egymilliárd eurót akarnak befektetni az ország egyetemeibe.
Az ellenzék vitatja ezt, szerintük a kormány egyfajta „bevásárlóközpont-oktatást” tervez, amelyben azok jutnak előnyhöz, akik megfelelő pénzügyi hátérrel rendelkeznek.
A magánegyetemek engedélyeztetése azonban szinte biztosra vehető, mert a kormány abszolút többséggel rendelkezik a parlamentben.

Görög diákok ezrei gyűltek össze csütörtökön Athénban és más városokban, hogy tiltakozzanak a tervezett oktatási reformok ellen, amelyek lehetővé tennék magánegyetemek bevezetését az országban.
A tavaly második mandátumot nyert Kijrákosz Mitsotakisz miniszterelnök konzervatív kormánya várhatóan még ebben a hónapban benyújtja a parlamentnek azt a törvényjavaslatot, amely lehetővé tenné a magánegyetemek működését Görögországban – írja a Reuters.
A kormány szerint ezek a külföldi egyetemek ágaiként fognak működni. Sokan úgy vélik, hogy a lépés leértékeli a görög állami egyetemek diplomáit, és a magánrendszer kizárja azokat, akik anyagilag nem engedhetik meg maguknak a felsőoktatásban való részvételt.
Egy diák azt mondta, az intézkedés alapjaiban fogja megváltoztatni az állami egyetemek működését, és a diákok mindennapi életét is tönkreteszi abból a szempontból, hogy hogyan fognak tudni munkát találni a diploma megszerzése után.
