 A pandzsábi kormányzat rendőrségi és félkatonai egységeket vezényelt a helyszínre a rend helyreállítására.

 Ezzel szemben három helyi rendőr azt állítja, hogy a halálbüntetéssel is sújtható blaszfémia vádja alaptalan, mert a két keresztény férfi az egyik helyi bolt tulajdonosával keveredett pénzügyi vitába. Az egyik keresztény férfi elmenekült a helyszínről, őt a hatóságok jelenleg is keresik őt.
