A lövöldözésről már a minap is megjelentek az első hírek. Akkor viszont a hatóságok még csak annyit árultak el, hogy legalább két kiskorút meglőttek az incidens alatt.
A Reuters friss beszámolója szerint azóta újabb részletek derültek ki. Mint írták, a Tennessee állambeli középiskolában egy 17 éves fiú nyitott tüzet a diáktársaira.
Kettejüket el is találta: egyikük, egy 16 éves lány belehalt a sérülésébe, míg egy másik diáktársának, egy 17 éves fiúnak a karját súrolta a golyó. A lövések leadása után a fegyveres fiatal önmagával is végzett – közölte a nashville-i rendőrség.
A rendőrség Solomon Henderson néven azonosította a lövöldözést elkövető fiút, és közölték, hogy a lelőtt lány neve Josselin Corea Escalante volt. Egyelőre vizsgálják az erőszakos cselekmény indítékát.
A szóban forgó középiskolának összesen nagyjából 2000 diákja van, és Nashville délkeleti részén, egy külvárosban található – írta a Reuters.
Hozzátették, hogy a mostani lövöldözésre szűk két évvel azután került sor, hogy egy nashville-i keresztény magániskolában három fiatal diák és három iskolai dolgozó halt meg egy másik lövöldözésben.
Tavaly összesen 330 iskolai lövöldözés volt az Egyesült Államokban a K–12 School Shooting Database nevű adatbázis szerint, amely 1966 óta listázza az ilyen lövöldözéseket. A K–12 szerint a tavalyi volt a második legmagasabb szám 1996 óta: ezt csak 2023 múlta felül, amikor 349 ilyen incidens történt az Egyesült Államokban.
