A Kamcsatka-félszigeten kitört Sivelucs vulkán tíz kilométeres hamufelhőt lövel ki a légkörbe, ami gondokat okozhat a légi közlekedésben – figyelmeztettek rá orosz geológusok.
A KVERT elnevezésű tudományos csoport, amely a vulkánkitörésekre való reagálás szervezésével foglalkozik, közleményében arról számolt be, hogy hétfőn éjjel „erős, robbanásszerű kitörés” történt a Sivelucs vulkánon, amely Oroszország csendes-óceáni partvidékén, a Kamcsatka-félszigeten található. A robbanások mintegy tíz kilométeres magasságba lövelték ki a hamut.
A vulkán aktivitása hatással lehet a nemzetközi és alacsonyan közlekedő légi járatokra – figyelmeztetett a KVERT. A geológusok szerint a vulkántól nagy hamufelhő sodródott 340 kilométerre észak-északnyugati és 240 kilométerre nyugat-délnyugati irányba.
A KVERT arra is felhívta a figyelmet, hogy bármikor várható akár 15 kilométer magas hamufelhő kilövellése is a vulkánból.
Az orosz hatóságok a legmagasabb, vörös veszélyességi fokozatot hirdették ki a légi közlekedésben.

A Kamcsatka-félsziget körülbelül 160 vulkánja közül csak mintegy két tucatnyi aktív. A 3283 méter magas Sivelucs a félsziget egyik legnagyobb, aktív vulkánja.
A félsziget vulkanikus régiója az UNESCO természeti világörökségi helyszínei között szerepel.
A hétvégén orosz geológusok a félsziget egy másik vulkánja, a Bezimjannij aktivitásáról is beszámoltak, amely szintén tíz kilométeres hamufelhőt lövellt ki magából.
