A bűncselekmények a vádlott lakóhelyén és a természetben történtek. Az egyik áldozat azt mondta a rendőrségnek, hogy középiskolás volt, amikor Smith meztelen fotókat kezdett küldeni magáról neki, egy másik áldozat pedig azt mondta, hogy arra kényszerítette, hogy szexeljen vele. Amikor a fiú panaszkodott neki, hogy amit tettek az törvénybeütköző, akkor a tanárnő pénzt ajánlott neki. Egy másik incidens során az áldozat azt állította, hogy marihuánát fogyasztottak a tanárnővel és utána történt az erőszak.

Az erőszakos esetek 2023 augusztusában kezdődtek, és egészen 2024 szeptemberéig tartottak ‒ még azután is, hogy a nő felmondott az iskolában ‒ írta a New York Post. A tankerület az év elején értesült a vádakról, a vizsgálat jelenleg is folyamatban van.
Az áldozatok száma egyelőre nem tisztázott.
