Eddig legkevesebb 12 halálos áldozatról tudni, akik nem élték túl a tömegszerencsétlenséget a madagaszkári nemzeti stadionban.
A madagaszkári nemzeti stadionban rendezték meg az Indiai-óceáni Szigetjátékok megnyitó ünnepségét, amikor a helyszínre bejutni próbáló tömegben 12-en elhunytak, már nem lehetett megmenteni őket.
A Reuters azt írja, hogy 80-an megsérültek, amiről a miniszterelnök számolt be pénteken. Egyelőre nem tudni, mi idézte elő a tragikus helyzetet, de 2019-ben 15 ember vesztette életét egy hasonló incidensben a Mahamasina stadionban.
Christian Ntsay miniszterelnök szerint a sérültek közül 11-en válságos állapotban vannak, így még lehetnek újabb áldozatok. Az Indiai-óceáni Szigetjátékokat a Nemzetközi Olimpiai Bizottság (NOB) hozta létre a 70-es évek végén, amin Mauritius, a Seychelle-szigetek, a Comore-szigetek, Madagaszkár, Mayotte, Réunion és a Maldív-szigetek sportolói vesznek részt rajta.

Izrael északi részén több tucatnyi embert taposott agyon a tömeg egy zsidó ünnepségen kialakult tolongásban, több mint százan megsérültek, sokan közülük válságos állapotban vannak – tudatták a mentőegységek péntek hajnalban.
A Magen David Adom mentőszervezet korábban legkevesebb 28 halálos áldozatról beszélt, a 12-es tévécsatorna azonban már 38 halottról számolt be. A mentők egyik szóvivője felfoghatatlan katasztrófának nevezte a történteket. A rendőrség lezárta a környéket, a több tízezer résztvevőt pedig buszokkal igyekeznek elszállítani a helyszínről.
Többen megcsúsztak egy lépcsőn, a többiek rájuk estek
A hatóságok először arról számoltak be, hogy leszakadt egy emelvény, és ez okozta a tragédiát, de később kiderült, hogy a zsúfoltság és a tolongás okozta több tucatnyi ember halálát; a halálos áldozatok többsége megfulladt vagy agyontaposták őket. A Háárec című lap úgy tudja, hogy a pánik amiatt tört ki, mert többen megcsúsztak és elestek egy lépcsőn, a mögöttük lévők pedig átestek rajtuk.
A legnagyobb tömeges esemény a korlátozások feloldása óta
A tragédia Merón városában történt, ahol a 2. században élt rabbi, a zsidó miszticizmus egyik vezéralakja, Simon bar Jocháj sírja található, aki a hagyomány szerint ezen a napon fedte fel a kabbala legmélyebb titkait. Ez „Istenhez kerülésének” vagyis halálának évfordulója is egyben a zsidó hagyomány szerint. Ehhez kapcsolódik a lág báómer ünnepe, amely az időszámítás szerint 132-ben, a római megszállók ellen kirobbant, Bar Kohba-féle felkeléssel kapcsolatos ünnepsorozatba is illeszkedik, amikor rendszeresen hatalmas tömeg gyűlik össze, máglyákat gyújtanak és egész éjjel táncolnak és imádkoznak. A koronavírus-járvány miatti korlátozások feloldása óta ez volt a legnagyobb tömeges összejövetel Izraelben.
Benjámin Netanjahu izraeli kormányfő súlyos tragédiának nevezte a történteket, és Twitter-üzenetében azt írta, hogy imádkozik az áldozatokért. Reuven Rivlin izraeli elnök szintén azt üzente: imádkozik azért, hogy a sérültek minél előbb felépüljenek.
