Több ezren vonultak ismét az utcákra szombat este Georgia fővárosában, Tbilisziben, hogy tiltakozzanak a „külföldiügynök-törvény” tervezete ellen.
Az április közepe óta tömegtüntetéseket kiváltó tervezet alapján előírnák, hogy azok a szervezetek, amelyek anyagi eszközeik több mint 20 százalékát külföldről finanszírozzák, külföldi ügynökökként regisztráltassák magukat. A kormány elképzelésének bírálói a tervezetet ahhoz a törvényhez hasonlítják, amelyet Oroszország széles körben alkalmaz a másként gondolkodók elleni fellépéshez.
A jogszabálytervezetet a parlament hamarosan harmadik olvasatban is elfogadhatja. Az elképzelést ugyan ellenzi a kormánypárttal konfliktusban álló Szalome Zurabisvili köztársasági elnök, a kormányzó Georgiai Álom pártnak mindenképpen meglesz az elegendő szavazata ahhoz, hogy elfogadják a tervezetet.
„Nemet mondunk az orosz törvényre! Nemet mondunk az orosz diktatúrára!” – kiabálták szombaton a tüntetők, akik közül többen európai uniós zászlókat lengettek.
Georgia célja, hogy csatlakozzon az Európai Unióhoz, de Gert Jan Koopman, az Európai Bizottság bővítésért felelős igazgatóságának főigazgatója néhány napja azt mondta, Brüsszel aggodalommal kíséri a törvényjavaslattal kapcsolatos fejleményeket. Szavai szerint „a második olvasatban elfogadott átláthatósági törvény jelenlegi formájában elfogadhatatlan, és komoly akadályokat gördíthet az ország EU-csatlakozása elé”.
