José María Bellido elmondta, hogy bár a tűz a műemlék több részét érintette, a városi tűzoltóság három egysége gyors beavatkozásának köszönhetően a lángokat sikerült eloltani, és „nem történt katasztrófa”. Az oltási munkálatokban részt vevő egyik tűzoltót hőguta miatt el kellett szállítani a helyszínről, állapotáról egyelőre nincs több információ. A polgármester kifejtette, hogy a három tűzoltóegység a templom külső részén, belsejében és a tetőn is dolgozott, ahol együttműködtek a helyszínen zajló felújítási munkálatokat végző munkásokkal, akik a tűz kitörésének hírére tértek vissza a mecset-katedrálishoz.
Demetrio Fernández nyugalmazott püspök az újságíróknak elmondta, hogy a tűz helyi idő szerint körülbelül este kilenc óra 15 perckor keletkezett az Almanzor-belsőben, a Keresztelőkápolna és a Szentlélek-kápolna között. A lángok gyorsan átterjedtek a tetőre, ami riadalmat keltett a környéken. Fernández méltatta a tűzoltók munkáját, kiemelve, hogy „a tűz nagy erővel tört ki a műemlék belsejében, ezért a tűzoltók hatékony beavatkozásának döntő szerepe volt”.
Ez volt a harmadik tűzeset a több mint ezeréves mecset-katedrális történetében, a mostanit megelőzően 1910-ben és 2001-ben csaptak fel lángok a műemlék épületben.

Az ukrajnai háború kezdete, azaz 2022. február 24. óta összesen 341 kulturális helyszínt, köztük több, a világörökség részét képező épületet ért károsodás a megtámadott országban – tudatta kedden az ENSZ Nevelésügyi, Tudományos és Kulturális Szervezete (UNESCO).
A párizsi székhelyű szervezet, amely tavaly szeptemberben fokozott védelmet ítélt meg húsz kiemelt ukrajnai kulturális örökségi helyszínnek, az elmúlt két évben súlyosan megrongálódott épületek között közleményében kiemelte az Odessza történelmi központjában található Krisztus színeváltozása székesegyházat. A világörökség részét képező ortodox templomot Sztálin 1936-ban leromboltatta, majd 2000 és 2002 között az eredeti épülethez hűen újjáépítették.
Az UNESCO szerint a több száz ukrajnai helyszínt ért károk értékét lehetetlen pontosan felmérni, a kulturális és turisztikai létesítményekben a háború kezdete óta keletkezett károk értékét azonban mintegy 3,75 milliárd dollárra becsülik.
Az elmúlt két évben az UNESCO mintegy 66 millió dollárt tudott mozgósítani a helyreállításokra, a legfontosabb adományozó Japán volt 25 millió dollárral – fűzte hozzá közleményében a szervezet.

Az előzetes becslések szerint 29 nemzeti és helyi jelentőségű kulturális örökséget képező épület sérült meg Odessza éjszakai támadásai következtében, számolt be Ukrajna Kulturális és Információs Politikai Minisztériuma.
Többek között a Világörökség részét képező „Odessza történelmi központjában” és annak pufferzónájában található kulturális műemlékek.
A kulturális tárca az UNESCO Világörökség Bizottságához és a Hágai Egyezmény Második Jegyzőkönyve Bizottságához előkészíti a megfelelő fellebbezéseket.
Emlékeztetőül, július 23-án éjjel az ellenség különféle típusú rakéták – Kaliber, Oniksz, X-22, Iszkander-K és Iszkander-M – rakétákkal csapott el Odesszára. Az oroszok összesen 19 rakétát lőttek ki a városra, ebből 9-et a légvédelmi erők megsemmisítettek. A templomon kívül a kikötői infrastruktúrát, minimum 6 épületet, köztük lakóházakat ért találat. Számos épület homlokzata és tetőzete is megsérült, ablakai betörtek, járművek rongálódtak meg. A támadás következtében egy ember meghalt, 22-en megsérültek.

A földrengések Törökországban és Szíria északnyugati részén legalább két UNESCO-műemléket – a Gaziantepi-kastélyt és az Aleppó-erődöt – pusztították el – számolt be a The Guardian és a France 24, tájékoztatott az Ukrinform.
A The Guardian információja szerint a törökországi Gaziantep fellegvár (citadella) egy része megsérült. Az ország egyik legjobb állapotban fennmaradt kastélyáról készült fényképek és videók azt mutatják, hogy kőfalainak egy része az erőd felőli oldalon leomlott.
A Gaziantep modern városközpontjában, egy dombon található kastély egyes részei a Hettita Birodalom idejéből származnak, főépületét a rómaiak építették a második és harmadik században. Később, I. Jusztinianus bizánci császár idejében megerősítették és kibővítették.
A France 24 szerint a szíriai Aleppó ősi fellegvára is megsérült, amelyet korábban részben az orosz bombázások semmisítettek meg.
A földrengés megrongálta a fellegvárban található minaretet, az oszmán malom egy része összeomlott, az északkeleti védősáncok megrepedtek, néhány pedig beomlott.
Aleppo városa ókori, 10. századi fellegváráról és történelmi központjáról híres, amely az UNESCO listáján is szerepel.

Világszerte 86 újságírót gyilkoltak meg tavaly – közölte hétfőn az ENSZ Oktatási, Tudományos és Kulturális Szervezetének (UNESCO) főigazgatója Párizsban. Audrey Azoulay felidézte, hogy ez a szám 2021-ben még 55 volt. Hozzátette, hogy több egymást követő év csökkenő számai után riasztó az esetek megugrása.
„A hatóságoknak meg kell kettőzniük erőfeszítéseiket, hogy minimálisra tudják csökkenteni az ilyen bűncselekményeket, és biztosítva legyen a tettesek felelősségre vonása, ugyanis a közömbösség jelentősen hozzájárul az erőszak terjedéséhez” – emelte ki Azoulay.
A médiamunkások sérelmére elkövetett gyilkosságok száma 2018-tól 2021-ig csökkenő tendenciát mutatott, tavaly azonban jelentősen megugrott. Az újságírók meggyilkolása világszerte az esetek túlnyomó többségében még mindig büntetlenül marad – állapította meg szerdai jelentésében az UNESCO, az ENSZ Oktatási, Tudományos és Kulturális Szervezete. Az UNESCO egyben felszólította a világ vezetőit, hogy tegyenek lépéseket az ilyen jellegű gyilkosságok felderítéséért is.
A szervezet adatai szerint az újságírók meggyilkolásának büntetlenségi aránya világszerte 86 százalék, ami 9 százalékpontos csökkenést jelent a tíz évvel korábbi adatokhoz képest. Azonban ez az adat még így is tragikus: a csökkenés mértéke az UNESCO szerint nagyon kevés ahhoz, hogy valóban megállítsa az erőszakot.
A 2020–2021-es időszakban 117 újságírót öltek meg munkájuk miatt, ami a legalacsonyabb szám azóta, hogy az UNESCO 2008-ban először ismertette a kérdéssel kapcsolatos jelentését. A szervezet adatai szerint azonban 2022-ben szeptember 30-ig már 66 újságírót gyilkoltak meg.
A szervezet szerint pedig az újságíróknak nincs biztonságos menedék a világon: a 2020–2021-ben megölt 117 újságíró közül 91-et nem munkavégzés közben, hanem otthon, vagy az utcán, többeket családtagjaik, köztük gyermekeik szeme láttára gyilkoltak meg.
Emellett tavaly csaknem megduplázódott a nők aránya a megölt újságírók között, az ilyen estek aránya az előző évi 6 százalékról 11 százalékra emelkedett.

Az elmúlt napokban Izrael és az ott zajló események megdöbbentették az egész világot, és nem hagyják el a sajtó címoldalait.
És az Izrael egész területén zajló zavargások miatt kialakult politikai vagy pontosabban geopolitikai ellenállás eredményeként egyedülálló történelmi, archeológiai és kulturális objektumok sérültek meg, amelyek nemcsak Izrael, de az egész civilizáció számára felbecsülhetetlen értékek.
Valójában néhány teljesen megsemmisült, a többi pedig nagyon súlyos károsodást szenvedtek az arab fegyveresek rablása, gyújtogatása és fosztogatása során. Az elmúlt napok alatt két fontos kulturális központ károsodott meg – Akko óvárosa és a lodai mozaikmúzeum, amelyet Izrael Régiségügyi Főosztálya „az ősi örökség megőrzése kiemelkedő példájának” nevezte.
Mint ismeretes, Akko óvárosa szerepel az UNESCO világörökségi listáján. Szakértők szerint az elmúlt napokban bandák szándékosan pusztították el egyik objektumot a másik után.
Az egyik ilyen épület, amelyet az arab fegyveresek felgyújtottak, az akkói „Chitta di Roma” kulturális és történelmi emlékek megőrzésével foglalkozó Nemzetközi központ. 2010-ben alapították, és az oszmán időszak egyik egyedülálló épületében kapott helyet, amely őskori alapokra épült Róma és Olaszország kormánya támogatásával. A központban nemzetközi tanfolyamokat szerveztek a történelmi emlékek konzerválása kapcsán.
A rombolások jelentős károkat okoztak más épületekben is, amelyeket az elmúlt években történelmi fontosságú épületekben alakítottak ki annak érdekében, hogy életet leheljenek az óvárosba és ösztönözze a turizmust.
Többek között a zavargások során megrongálódott a lodai új Mozaik Múzeum üveghomlokzata. A múzeum megnyitását néhány hónap múlva tervezték. Az arab fegyveresek szétverték az homlokzat üvegét, de a múzeumban található mozaik eddig még nem sérült meg.
Az Izraeli Régiségügyi Főosztály kijelentette, hogy minden lehetséges intézkedést megtesz annak védelme érdekében. Az előrejelzések szerint ennek a múzeumnak köszönhetően Lod megjelenhet „a nemzetközi turisztikai térképen”.
A város északi bejárata közelében található múzeum egyedülálló római „lodi mozaikkal” rendelkezik, amely a becslések szerint 2000 éves, és amiket a világ számos rangos múzeumában állítottak ki, köztük a „Metropolitan”, „Louvre”, „Ermitázs”, a berlini Régi Múzeumban.
A Régiségügyi Főosztály munkatársai szerint ez az egyik legszembetűnőbb és leginkább megőrzött mozaikok, amelyeket valaha felfedtek a világon. 1996-ban kerültek felszínre a főosztály által végzett mentési ásatások során, amikor Lod közúti hálózatát építették.
„Ez két egyedi projekt, az egyik Lod-ban, a másik Akko-ban, a világörökség értékei megőrzésére és bemutatására irányuló erőfeszítések példájaként szolgál. Akko-ban egy egész élet munkája ment tönkre, mert azok a kincsek, amik ott vannak, az egész világ figyelmét felhívták volna a városra. Lod-ban a huligánok a világ egyik egyedülálló, régiségekkel teli helyszínének létrehozását kísérelték meg tönkretenni a városban” – jelentette ki Gideon Avni professzor, a Régiségügyi Főosztály tudományos főmunkatársa.

A harcok azt követően lángoltak fel, hogy a szakadárokat tömörítő Déli Átmeneti Tanács (STC) harcosai megkísérelték bevenni a sziget legnagyobb települését, Hadibo városát. Megtámadták az ottani katonai támaszpontokat, de a kormányerők visszaverték a lázadókat – közölték jemeni tisztségviselők.
Helyi lakosok kora reggel óta fegyverropogást és robbanásokat hallanak. Sebesültekről egyelőre nem érkeztek hírek.
A Déli Átmeneti Tanács szombaton bejelentette, hogy „egyedül fogja kormányozni” az ellenőrzése alatt álló területeket, köztük Ádent is, amelyet 2019-ben foglalt el, valamint több más dél-jemeni tartományt, és korrupcióval vádolták meg a Szaúd-Arábia támogatta jemeni kormányt. A nemzetközileg elismert kormányzat puccsnak minősítette a szakadárok lépését, és azt követelte tőlük, hogy tartsák tiszteletben a tavaly novemberben aláírt békeszerződést.
A világörökségi listán szereplő Szokotra gazdag biodiverzitásáról híres. Az STC korábban többször próbálta már ellenőrzése alá vonni a szigetet.
Az STC és a kormány is része annak a szaúdi vezetésű és az Egyesült Arab Emirátusok által is támogatott arab koalíciónak, amely évek óta harcol az Irán támogatását élvező, síita húszi lázadók ellen. A kormány és a szakadárok tavaly augusztusban azonban összetűzésbe kerültek egyes dél-jemeni területek, köztük a legfontosabb kikötőváros, Áden feletti ellenőrzés kérdésében. Ebben a viszályban az Egyesült Arab Emírségek a déli szakadárok pártját fogja.
A belső csatározások várhatóan tovább súlyosbítják azt a humanitárius válságot, amelyet a 2014 óta húzódó véres polgárháború okozott a világ egyik legszegényebb országában.
