 A Kacsin Függetlenségi Hadsereg alapításának évfordulóját ünnepelték, három bombát dobtak Kansi falujára.
 A túlélő falusiak elmondták, hogy a légicsapás előtt semmiféle figyelmeztetést nem kaptak, az észak-mianmari Kachin államban található Kansiban legalább 50-en vesztették életüket.
 A halálos áldozatok számát Naw Bu ezredes, a Kacsin Függetlenségi Hadsereg szóvivője közölte a BBC-vel. Elmondása szerint mintegy százan megsebesültek a támadásban – írta meg a BBC.
 Az áldozatok között feltehetően négy népszerű kacsin énekes is van. Szemtanúk szerint a katonaság megakadályozta, hogy a sebesülteket Hpakant városba szállítsák, ahol a legközelebbi kórház található.
 Kachin államnak ezen részén évek óta rendszeresek a harcok a mianmari hadsereg és a kacsin lázadók között, mely mögött egyrészt a jádebányák bevétele húzódik, ami évi 30 milliárd dollárt jelent.
 A lázadások másik jelentős oka, hogy a tavalyi katonai puccs során megbuktatták az Aung Szan Szú Kjí által vezetett polgári kormányt. A hatalomátvétel azóta több ezer ember halálát okozta, tízezreket pedig börtönbe zártak.
