Egy ember meghalt pénteken a világ legnagyobb urándúsító üzemében, Oroszország uráli régiójában, miután megrepedt egy szegényített uránvegyületet tartalmazó henger – közölte az állami kézben lévő nukleáris vállalat, a Roszatom.
Az üzemben és a környező területeken nem nőtt a normális fölé a sugárzás szintje, az incidens nem jelent veszélyt a környéken élőkre – tették hozzá.
„Nagy szomorúsággal jelentjük be az uráli elektrokémiai üzemben történt tragikus incidenst, amelyben egy munkás meghalt” – fogalmazott a Roszatom.
A közlemény szerint a technikus halálát „fizikai sérülés” okozta, amelyhez az urán-hexafluoridnak, az urándúsításhoz használt kémiai vegyület tartályának sérülése vezetett.
Az erőmű tulajdonosa, a Roszatom szerint a vegyület szegényített formája kevésbé radioaktív, mint a természetes urán. A közlemény arról is beszámol, hogy a többi alkalmazottat orvosi vizsgálatra küldték, legtöbbjüket már haza is engedték a fertőtlenítési procedúra után.
„Semmiféle veszély nem fenyegeti Novouralszk város lakóit vagy az üzem dolgozóit” – mondta Jurij Minejev termelésiigazgató-helyettes.
Az üzem azt is közölte, hogy atomerőműveknek dúsítja az uránt, és a maga nemében a legnagyobb ilyen létesítmény a világon. A baleset okait vizsgálják.
