Vízágyút is bevetett szombaton a georgiai rendőrség Tbilisziben, hogy meggátolja a tüntetők bejutását az elnöki palotába. Az incidens a helyhatósági választások napján, röviddel a szavazás lezárulta előtt történt.
Tüntetők egy csoportja megpróbált behatolni az elnöki palota területére, miután ellenzéki politikusok „békés forradalomra” szólítottak fel a kormányzó Georgiai Álom-Demokratikus Georgia párt ellen. A rendőrség páncélozott járműveket, vízágyút és paprikasprayt vetett be a tömeg visszaszorítására.
A nyugatbarát ellenzék tavaly választási csalással vádolta a kormánypártot, és azóta rendszeresen tart tiltakozásokat. A Georgiai Álom-Demokratikus Georgia a választás után befagyasztotta az ország európai uniós csatlakozási tárgyalásait, ami éles bírálatokat váltott ki az ellenzék és a civil szervezetek részéről.
A szombati helyhatósági választásokat a legnagyobb georgiai ellenzéki pártok bojkottálták.

Sztrájkba lépett hétfőn a The New York Times (NYT) technológiai személyzete. A felfordulás az elnökjelöltek közül Donald Trump táborában okozhat kaján mosolyokat, hiszen a világ legnagyobb – tízmillió körüli – előfizetői bázisával rendelkező lap hagyományosan a most Kamala Harrist indító Demokrata Pártot támogatja az elnökválasztásokon, illetve közöttük.
A munkabeszüntetés éjfélkor kezdődött, és a lapnál, illetve támogatói közt attól tartanak, hogy megzavarhatja a The Times tudósításait a keddi elnökválasztásokról – írta a legnagyobb amerikai rivális lap, a The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).
Hétfőn közép-európai idő szerint fél 5-kor a NYT honlapja rendben működött, a címlap tetején lévő tucatnyi cikk mind az elnökválasztással foglalkozott és az egyik egy hatvanéves női szavazó videója, aki korábban a Republikánusok támogatója volt, de elmondja, hogy az előző választásokon már a demokrata Joe Bidenre szavazott és most Kamala Harrisre fog.
A fennakadások a későbbiekben azonban nem kizártak, miután éjfélkor sztrájkba kezdett a lap technológiai személyzetét képviselő szakszervezet, a NewsGuild. Ilyen munkabeszüntetésre a lapnál pont elnökválasztásokon nem volt példa a lapnál az elmúlt hatvan évben (amikor egyébként rendre a Demokrata Párt jelöltjeit támogatták).
Már hetek óta riadót fújtunk és szabaddá tettük magunkat, hogy eljussunk ehhez a megegyezéshez a választási hét jelentette határidő előtt. Elkeserítő, hogy a the Times hajlandó hazárdírozni a választási tudósítással, hogy elkerülje a megegyezést egy igazságos és fair szerződésről – idézte a WSJ a Susan DeCaravát, a NewsGuild elnökét.
A mozgósítás döntő lehet az elnökválasztáson
A lap hivatalosan szintén csalódását fejezte ki, és ők szakszervezetbe tömörült kollégákat hibáztatták, amiért az olvasók számára az egyik legfontosabb időszakban hajlandók erre a „felesleges, és a küldetésünkkel ellentétes” akcióra.
Az elnökválasztáson rekordmagas részvétel várható, és a mozgósítás sikerességének döntő szerepe lehet.

A georgiai fővárosban, Tbilisziben kedden este a parlamenti választások eredménye elleni tüntetést szerveztek – számolt be a Jevropejszka Pravda a Sova-ra hivatkozva.
A diákok a georgiai parlament épületéhez vonultak. Az akció résztvevői georgiai és az EU zászlóival érkeztek.
A diákok plakátokat tartottak, amelyek szövegei hangsúlyozták, Georgia fiatalsága Európát választják, nem Oroszországot, az európai utat, és nem a szovjet múltba való visszatérést.
„Az európai civilizációban akarunk élni. Addig harcolunk, amíg a szabad, egyesült, független Georgia nyer!”, jelentették ki a szervezők.
Mint arról korábban beszámoltunk, az ellenzéki pártok nem ismerik el a parlamenti választások eredményét, állítva, hogy a „Grúz Álom” azt „ellopta”. Az ellenzék tiltakozásra szólított fel.

Az előzetes eredményhirdetés és a baloldal szenzációs franciaországi parlamenti választási győzelme után Párizsban és más városokban tömeges zavargások és a rendőrséggel való összecsapások kezdődtek el, számolt be a Le Figaro.
A rendőrség információi szerint július 7-én este mintegy nyolcezren gyűltek össze a párizsi Place de la République-on. Ott tartották az Új Népfront baloldali mozgalom hívei nagygyűlésüket, majd később összecsaptak a rendőrséggel.
A csuklyás emberek csoportjai utcai bútorok dobálásával, kerékpárok égetésével, tűzijátékkal és köveket dobálva próbálták provokálni a rendőröket.
A rendőrség könnygázzal és sokkológránáttal válaszolt. Az ütközések a Republic Avenue, a Voltaire Boulevard és a Temple Boulevard elején történtek. Jelenleg a rendőrség igyekszik elfojtani a zavargásokat.
A helyi újságírók szerint civil ruhás rendőrök tartóztatják le a szabálysértőket.

Legalább 24 ember vesztette életét szerdán két, választási irodáknál történt pokolgépes merényletben Pakisztán Beludzsisztán tartományában, miközben csütörtökön parlamenti választásokat tartanak az országban. A hatóságok válaszul korlátozzák az internetet és felfüggesztik a mobilszolgáltatást.
A legutóbbi, 2018-as választáson az Imran Hán vezette, ellenzéki Pakisztáni Mozgalom az Igazságosságért (PTI) 116 mandátumot szerzett a parlamentben. A politikust 2022-ben buktatták meg és a napokban ítélték 14 évnyi börtönbüntetésre korrupció miatt. Elemzők szerint Hán megbuktatása hátterében az országot ténylegesen irányító hadsereg áll.
A parlamentet 2023 augusztusában négy nappal megbízatásának lejárta előtt oszlatták fel, az alkotmány értelmében a választásokat az ezt követő 90 napon belül meg kellett volna tartani, de a 2023-as népszámlálás utáni új választókerületek megrajzolása miatt erre csak újabb három hónappal később kerülhet sor.
A választás vélhetően a Pakisztáni Néppárt és a Pakisztáni Muzulmán Liga–Navaz között dől el. Mivel Pakisztán 40 százaléka írástudatlan, így a szimbólumok használatának nagy jelentősége van. A PTI politizálását megnehezítette, hogy jelöltjei nem használhatták a szavazólapon a krikettütőt, a párt börtönbe zárt egykori vezetője ugyanis híres krikettjátékos volt.
Az ország rendkívül rossz gazdasági helyzetben van, milliók még mindig a 2022-es áradások következményeit nyögik, az infláció az egekbe szökött.

Alig telt el pár nap Igor Matovic és Robert Kalinák verekedése óta, újabb tettlegességig fajuló botrány rázta meg a szlovák közéletet. Leköpték ugyanis az Egyszerű Emberek és Független Személyiségek (OĽaNO) képviselőjét, aki a személyét érő incidensre két balegyenessel reagált.
Szeptember 13-án az Irány – Szociáldemokrácia (Smer–SD) sajtótájékoztatóján Robert Fico, a párt elnökének beszéde közben megjelent a helyszínen Igor Matovic, az OĽaNO elnöke, aki Robert Kalinákkal, a volt szlovák belügyminiszterrel keveredett dulakodásba. A két politikus először csak ordibált egymással, majd Matovic mellkason rúgta Kalinákot – idézte fel a döbbenetes eseményt a Paraméter cikkét szemléző Index.
Pár nappal később kiszivárgott egy videófelvétel, amelyen az OĽaNO egyik képviselője, Tomás Holkovic egy férfira támad, aki állítólag leköpte őt. A felvételen az látszik, hogy a képviselő veszekszik a férfival, majd kétszer is megüti.
Ezután egy másik férfival autóba ülnek és elhajtanak – írja a Paraméter.
Igor Matovic szerint provokáció történt. „Két csavargó odalépett a jelöltünkhöz, és közvetlen közelről az arcába köptek” – mondta az OĽaNO elnöke.
„Rögtön az eset után kértem, hogy töröljenek a jelöltlistáról. Nem akarok ártani a mozgalomnak” – magyarázta a videóban, amelyben orvostanhallgatóként arra is kitért, milyen veszélyes, ha valakit közvetlen közelről leköpnek.

Ellenzői szerint a választási hatóság autonómiáját, ezáltal a demokráciát veszélyeztetik az új szabályok. López Obradort négy hivatali éve alatt többször vádolták azzal, hogy autokratikus lépéseket tesz.

Merényletet kíséreltek meg helyi idő szerint csütörtök este az argentin alelnök ellen, a politikus sértetlen maradt, a támadót a rendőrség elfogta.
A merényletkísérlet Cristina Fernández de Kirchner otthona előtt történt, ahol az alelnök éppen híveit fogadta, akik azért gyűltek össze, hogy támogatásukat fejezzék ki a korrupcióval gyanúsított politikus felé.
Sajtóértesülések szerint a támadó egyenesen Kirchnerre szegezte a fegyvert. Az ügyben megszólaló Alberto Fernández elnök azt mondta, a fegyver meg volt töltve, és a gyanúsított meg is próbálta elsütni, viszont egyelőre tisztázatlan okok miatt nem sült el, s az alelnök „csupán ennek köszönheti életét”.
„A támadást a lehető leghatározottabban el kell ítélnie egész Argentínának, beleértve az összes politikai erőt, mert a demokráciánkat érinti” – fogalmazott televíziós beszédében az elnök, aki egyébként péntekre munkaszüneti napot hirdetett a merényletkísérlet miatt.
„Vitatkozhatunk, lehetnek súlyos nézetkülönbségeink, de a gyűlöletbeszédnek nincs helye, mert erőszakot szül, amelynek nincs helye a demokráciákban” – szögezte le.
Sergio Massa gazdasági miniszter gyilkossági kísérletnek nevezte az esetet Twitteren, és szintén óva intett attól, hogy „a gyűlölet és az erőszak elharapózzon a vitás ügyekben”.
A rendőrség azt közölte, hogy a merényletkísérlet gyanújában őrizetbe vett férfi brazil származású.
Az ügy miatt megdöbbenését fejezte ki több ellenzéki politikus is, több latin-amerikai ország pedig szolidaritásáról biztosította az alelnököt, aki 2007 és 2015 között az ország elnöke volt.
Cristina Fernández de Kirchnerre az előző héten 12 év börtön és közhivataltól eltiltás kiszabását kezdeményezte az ügyészség, mert a vád szerint 1 milliárd dollárnak megfelelő összeggel károsította meg az országot bűnszervezet irányításával, melyen keresztül jogellenesen egyik barátjának és szövetségesének ítéltek oda 51 útépítési közbeszerzést.

Kormányellenes tüntetés volt Nyugat-Jeruzsálemben szombaton, több ezren demonstráltak Benjamin „Bibi” Netanjahu miniszterelnök otthona előtt és az akörüli utcákban. A tömegnek elege van a Netanjahu vezette kormányból. Három nap múlva két éven belül negyedszer lesznek választások Izraelben.
Az izraeli sajtó beszámolói szerint a tegnapi az elmúlt év összes kormányellenes tüntetésénél nagyobb volt, mintegy 20 000 ember gyűlt össze.
A várakozások szerint ismét Netanjahu pártja, a jobboldali Likud kapja majd a legtöbb szavazatot március 23-án, de valószínűleg nem lesz többségük a parlamentben és a kormányalakításhoz sem lesz elegendő szavazatuk. Ez az előző három választáson is ugyanígy történt.
Netanjahu ellen épp korrupció miatt folyik per (a vádak közt megvesztegetés és csalás is szerepel), és kritikusai szerint a koronavírus-járványt is rosszul kezelte.
A 71 éves miniszterelnök viszont abban reménykedik, hogy a gyors oltási kampány, aminek köszönhetően Izrael már nagyjából teljesen újra tudott nyitni, illetve a több arab országgal kötött normalizációs megállapodások sora elég lesz ahhoz, hogy a Likud többséget szerezzen a parlamentben. (Reuters)
