A baleset a LyondellBasell komplexumban történt La Porte városában. A létesítmény közleménye szerint ecetsav-szivárgást észleltek egy olyan egységben, melyet korábban leállítottak tervezett karbantartás miatt. A szivárgás már megállt, a takarítás folyamatban van.
